Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the rumored PSP2? What do you want it to do/ what do you think it will do. can they market something that compares to the 3ds and what must they do in order to compete with the 3ds.?

They'd have to be actual analog sticks though. And in better positions. The nub on the PSP is incredibly uncomfortable to use.
It'll probably have seamless PS3 integration, 3G coverage and 3D visuals. And maybe do your laundry.
if it can do all that while making a damn good quesodila then im all for itIt'll probably have seamless PS3 integration, 3G coverage and 3D visuals. And maybe do your laundry.

To tell the truth, I'd rather have no analog stick or nub.
OMFG stop with all the PSP2 threads seriously theres probably not going to be a PSP2

Yes there will be. Insiders have said that it will be revealed at CES 2011 because of complications with the Tegra 2 chip thats going to power the psp2. Google "psp2 Tegra2"
Well other than that awesome chip that i think will blow 3DS's Pica200 out of the water, im hoping for dual analog sticks and at least twice if not 3x as much ram. Also i hope theres a better XMB thats being developed for the psp2, also a camera with at least 5mp.

There will be another PSP. It did too well for them to not make another.

Well if the PSP was a Portable PS2...then the next Sony handheld needs to very close to what the PS3 can do...which would be the ultimate handheld....all the 3D stuff is just over hype from the other firm and their fans. Give me good HD, backward capability (umd drive included), Better volume without headphones, GPS system, camara, all the multimedia the PSP has.Just make it something I do not want to put down. And dont compete with Nintendo and Apply just be a better Sony device. Blu Ray type UMD disc would be really cool...but keep movies downloadable only.

You're going to be very disappointed with Sony's next handheld.

All of that means more money lol so nintendo wins again...cheaper pricing equals better sales. I have only ever bought one sony system and thats the PS3, WHICH I LOVE, but the problem is that because it was so expensive I had to wait for price drops, I dont like the slim so I bought the 80gb fat :) Dont get me wrong, im going to buy both the 3DS and the PSP2 this time around, I own all systems offered this gen except psp, due to the lack of games, so one thing they need to do is make piracy harder so more developers do make games for it. Lets just pray its priced under 400 dollars hahaha, knowing sony, I wouldnt put it past them...

Exactly. PSP has been going strong for 5 years now. Every iteration of the hardware brings more functionality inside a sleeker design. It makes tech buffs like me giddy as schoolgirls talking about this stuff.

What i would like sony to do to get rid of that price difference is to have a separate weaker model to combat the 3DS because most kids dont need bluetooth or pause feature or more memory. Make a cheaper model and give the real gamers and fanboys the better one with more features. Kinda like the different ipods.

[QUOTE="gamebreakerz__"]Sony will wait for the release of the 3DS and make sure their system is more powerfull before they announce anything.rubediskythe psp is acctually more powerfull than the 3DS. Right? Doubt it, the PSP's graphics are probably better because a lot of the 3DS proccessing power will be used on making it 3D. I'm also assuming Sony will want the PSP2 to be 1. Far more powerful than the 3DS as was the PSP and 2. Powerful enough to run PS2 games that can be ported over with little cost.

I have read on a couple of sites(including GameSpot, but I can't find the original preview), and the people that have actually tried the 3DS at E3 say that the 3DS has graphics that are easily equal to or (in some cases) better than the PSP. In other words, it's only slightly better. I'm not an expert on 3D, but I don't think it would take a whole lot more processing power. We see depth because of the fact that we have two eyes. Seeing virtual 3D is simply a problem of showing another, slightly offset camera angle. Hence, our eyes will see two different images, and we get an illusion of depth. I'm with you on point #1 for sure, but as for PS2 games, I'm not so sure. It would be great if it could play PS2 games the same way it does with PS1 titles, but a vast amount of titles in the PSP's early years were PS2 ports, and many of them got the job done just fine. I wonder if the technology is ready for PS3 ports just yet? Of course it wouldn't be the same quality as the PS3, but it would be incredible to have some ports of a few PS3 games.

I agree, I'd rather play PS3 games on the PSP2. Plus trophies while on the go would honestly be so much fun. I think Sony could beat Nintendo in the next gen of handhelds. All they need is a price below $250 and add trophies, better online, and an all in one media player, back it up with a few ports from either the ps2 or ps3 and alot of people will find it interesting. and much more convienent at a lower price. Also a good marketing plan is much needed for it. Market the heck outta the psp2 it's the only way.
Whatever they do I hope trey do not call it the PSP2....why people keep calling it that is just beyond me....Playstation Mobile or Playstation Roam would be good names or even something like Playstation Signal....but I hope they dont call it a Playstation Portable 2....If they want to add to gamers they need to come with another creative name than lame PSP2

Portable gaming is usually intended to keep people busy, and that's what trophies do: they give you a reason to keep playing a game for longer. As for online, that's usually, if not always the dev's fault. The PSP already is a fairly good media player, but it would be awesome to see some more format support, even up to the PS3's level.

I think the PSP2 is the perfect name. Not on it's own(it's pretty lame), but in the PSP's current font style, what else could look as sleek and clean as the words, "PSP" on the current PSP? :)

PSP2?wow,you got some imagination, but so do i.-PSP2,id like it to be shaped more like the go,but less sturdey and slipery...
-More memory, the psp 3000 has more memory than the psp go (i think)...
-Network connecton more like a phone,so you dont have to "Scan" or what not.
-I do think you shold buy games and but them in the game like a disk, not like the GOprince0vegeta
I hope you meant more sturdy, not less, and no, the PSP Go has the same amount of memory as the 3000. It's the 1000 that has less. Obviously, the PSP2 will have more memory.
Cell phone-style connections will cost you a lot more for the system, and you'll have to pay a monthly fee, almost guaranteed. However, it was confirmed that major gaming companies met with a Japanese communications corporation to discuss 3G in gaming consoles. We don't know whether the PSP2 will have a next-gen UMD drive, or portable Blu-ray technology, or simply use downloads. We can only wait and see.

Nintendo will win for a year but sony is going to kick nintendo's butt in 2011 with the psp2. I Don't see a new psp this year. If you look at the gow bundle and the games.... it's not the time to make a new psp. They just need to make sure they got good games.
