I'm going second -Hoax- and say Platformers. Not many of those around, and most of them are PSN games. Obviously little big planet is trying to reignite the genre, but....so far it hasn't taken off again.
Platformers, definitely. Ratchet and Clank is the only one left, because all the others focus too heavily on super advanced physics and forget about the fun.
Sport dyin? Think all those annoyin sequels is provin otherwise. Puzzle/Strategy is more likely to go down (You actually have to think for those games :P).
Can't really say RPG in a way becuase of the fact most of them are being made.... But then again Square Enix has made bad moves in a way for development so ima have to go with RPG for the PS3 for now...(for now...I know Demon Souls is going to change that...shout outs to atlus again...)

Old school survival horror seems to be on it's way out, being replaced with new-fangled action-horror games. Older horror games took a lot of their inspiration from point and click adventure games, but now it seems they take most of their ideas from action/adventure games and third-person shooters.

Dead space is action not survival horror. It's in the same boat as RE5. The only real survival horror game that has come out recently is Siren.

It doesn't have anything in common with old school survival horror games. It's a third-person shooter with horror elements, just like RE4 and 5.

You're kidding right :) ? I'd like to say sports, seems to be the same crap regurgitated each year with only minor additions to the core gameplay. But there hasn't been a great, fun platformer for yonks... LBP is good, but you cant really compare that to the likes of Ratchet and Clank, the first Jak and Daxter and so on...
I'd say RTS. I don't know many people at all that play those. I don't think sports will because there are a bunch of people that only play sports games
Well every genre in comparison to shooters, people cant get enough of thier shooting. But platformers is on life support, the only thing really keeping it genuinely relevant is Mario as other platformers have moved more into the adventure realm like Banjo Kazooie. The Survival?Horror genre has been assimilated into the action and shooter genre's, at least there has been a small resurggence on the Wii with titles like Shattered Memories. I wouldn't say the Sports genre is dying it is as lively as ever it's just not showing much in the way of growth or innovation. Last year I would have said the 2D fighter was on its deathbed but it has come back with a vengence this year so it gives me hope for the other genre's.
Yeah, the traditional platformer is the one genre that's really suffered. I mean, back on the PS1 you had countless platform series, Crash, Spyro, Croc, etc.
