If the cool kids stand around a water cooler, they probably aren't the cool kids. :PIt's what all the cool kids were talking about by the water cooler, so I had to get one myself.

Better games, free internet play, blu-ray player also i've own PS1, PS2, PSP and the PS3 was the next step. Never gave Microsoft's Xbox and Xbox 360 a chance.Sk8ter_213I love PS3 because it has all those features. It also has the best games ever. I have had the PS 1, the PS 2, the PS 3, and the PSP, and I love all of them!
I own all three current consoles but the reason I bought the PS3 was because Sony makereliable consoles and theexclusives are great as they have a different variety of types of games out for the console plus it's updates Vidzone is nice feature to have plus you don't have to pay extra for online.
Grew up on PlayStation consoles and have used and loved Sony products my whole life. They've never disappointed me in the past and there's no reason to think they ever will. Don't know why people make such a huge deal about the price of the PS3. SONY IS ALWAYS MORE EXPENSIVE than any other brand...but more often than not, you get what you pay for.
Sony got duped this generation because of the high initial cost. Microsoft continues to nickel and dime all those fools who thought they were saving lots of money...if you're going to buy an Xbox, get it for the games, not because it's cheaper. Because in reality, it's not.
I took a good look at my game library and saw that over 80% of my favorite games (the ones I keep/dont sell or trade) were on the ps2. Ive only kept a handful of xbox games, and figured that the ps3 would just extend that trend. Ive got nothing against the 360, and would actually like to get one eventually, but playstation has always had the better games imho....
for me it was because i thought final fantasy was going to be exclusive. I love the MGS series... and i wanted the bluray because I had a feeling it would win over HD-DVD.
EDIT: oh ya and because of backwards compatibility .. at the time i got it anyway. That was HUGE For me and I knew the 360 wouldn't play my Otogi games so i was dissapointed.
What he saidFirstly because it was the sexy one of the three.:P
After that the games it had appealed to me more than the 360 or Wii's library.

i know microsoft tries to cheat you out of your money i seen a deal on live the let you go gold for month for a dollar and went for it guess what they signed me up for automatic renewal meaning every month they would charge me $8 automatically so i tried to cancel it but didnt let me gave me a number instead to call. after going through a whole bunch of menus on the phone i finally got the operator they cancelled it withou a problem but if i wouldnt of payed more attention i wouldve been getting charged $8 a month without knowing!!! thats y i prefer my PS3 alsoJapanese games.
BluRay Player.
Free online.
Read many articles about how much potential it has graphics-wise.
Can't beat the controller.
So many reasons it is hard to list. I already had a Wii and I love it. So, when I got my TV I was trying to decide between Xbox 360 and PS3. The main reason I finally decided on the PS3 was Blu-Ray. I was kind of wanting to get a Blu-Ray player but really couldn't see paying the price of one since I didn't even know if I would use it. So, I finally decided the $100 difference between a plain Blu-Ray player and a great Blu-Ray player plus an awesome game console was the way to go.
The other reasons:
For me it really wasn't the exclusives as the only one I liked was LBP and the other games I liked could be purchased on either system. So the main reasons really ended up being 1). The price of Xbox in the end was so much higher. Needing a wireless adapter, paying for Xbox live and all the others I wanted/needed made the price a lot higher. 2). The ultimate reason I decided to go PS3 over Xbox was the high rate of problems on the system. I wouldn't have minded paying more for the Xbox, but I didn't want to pay more for a system that seems to break in a few months.
I definitely consider myself to be a fanboy for Nintendo, but I would never limit myself to one system over the other. If I had to choose only one system it would have to be a Nintendo system just because the games appeal to me the most. But, since I don't have to choose only one being able to get more systems just opens up so many possibilities. All systems have goods and bads and each one has great games.
I'm really happy I got the PS3. There are a few things that drive me crazy with it, but it is still a great system!
i was going to get a xbox 360 because it was cheaper and had more games but then i learned of the red ring of death and disc scratching. I was a ps2 owner and ive never really liked microsoft so i wanted a ps3 but the price was so high. ps3 was more money but i decided it was worth it for what i was getting. free online, superior graphics (in my opinion), blu-ray, etc. now there are a lot of amazing games so it makes the ps3 even better in my opinion.
i payed 650 for mine two years ago and have not had one problem. worth every penny in my opinion.
I was bored with my nintendo wii, so I decided I'd get a PS3 or 360 for christmas. I decided to go with the PS3 because free online, wifi, and upgradable hdd.
I've always been a Sony fan. Plus, I like the blu ray player and the free internet. And I've never really been drawn to Xbox stuff.
I've just been through the whole system history. Started with the original Playstation, built up a great collection of games, got the PS2 a few years later and went through many years of joys for that system as well and then came the PS3.
I don't know. Sony's games have always satisfied me. I have a Wii as well and had a 360 for a while too, which was my first ever Xbox experience, but I eventually wanted money and didn't want the 360 anymore so I did what was best for my wallet. This shows I have tried other systems as well but I guess it's the long term satisfaction I've had with Sony that makes me stick with Playstation.
1. Free online.
2. Better games.
3. MGS4. Killzone 2.
4. Better graphics.
5. Wii Sucks.
6. X-Box360 Sucks.
7. PS3 ROCKS!!!
I am and always have been a Sony fan. I've owned every Sony console and love the games that Sony has. I did actually own a 360 and a Wii for a short period, but I was dissapointed with the game library of the Wii(i really only bought it to play Metroid Prime 3) and having to pay for XBL. The 360 just didn't offer the type of games I like such as games like Folklore, HS, MGS4, Uncharted, R&C, and MLB: The Show to name a few although I did enjoy GeOW for little while when it came it out.
I couldn't miss the release of MGS4, I decided this was the best time to own a PS3, a year later and I'm still satisfied with the games that are coming out.
I was playing nintendo console since the snes, tried out the xbox last gen and returned to nintendo this gen. When I realised that 3 of my most anticipated titles weren't gonna hit the wii (back in 2007, they were MGS4, SF4 and RE5) I decided I needed another console.
I went with a launch 60 gig PS3 because with the bluray player, built in wifi, rechargable controllers and free online play it seemed to me like the superior console.
I also wanted to try playstation coz I'd never had one before and you couldn't go wrong with them in the past.
Plus, the elite had just been announced, leaving a good few of my early 360 adopting friends sort of high and dry.
Watching all of their consoles die numerous times confirmed my decision :p
I eventually got an elite as a very generous present from my GF, but I only use it for a few exclusives.
My PS3 is my main console, very closely followed by my wii :)
blu ray player, the brand (sony is best), it looks awesome, has better exclusives than 360 (uncharted, infamous, motorstorm better than gears of war and halo). controller has better battery
