first i want to say is i love the show and it is one of the many reasons i bought a ps3

note i played baseball all the way through the college level and still toady (wooden bat)

1-the sound of the bat hitting the ball its not right at all

2-the lighting during night games looks bad

3-why do all batters stand in the same spot in the box, Jeter and Arod DONT crowd the plate in real life! Jeter stands off the plate and then "dives" towards the plate as the pitch is thrown, to "inside-out" the ball to right field

4-i want real time, time of day change, (2k7 doesn it) And how about a game in a light rain!

5-i want player collisions!

6-why dont defenders tag runners, like actually reach out and tag them out while in the middle of the base paths

7-why does the first baseman pick up every through in the dirt? (not realistic)

8-the cutoff men dont line up correctly when a ball gets hit to the fence (shortstop and second baseman line up to third base not second when a balls get hit over an outfielders head)

9-throwing from the outfield you never choose to hit the cut off man initially, he is there if u need him, it should be through to base then decide to cut or not after the throw, unless its a really long throw like fence to home plate)

10 i better be able to load up my "road to teh show" carreer from 07, i dont want to start all over

11-why doesnt the dirt or chalk lines ever get messed up?

12-tweak the fielding camera, make it more like broadcast!

add some!

to be continued....

"Jeter nor Arod crowd the plate in real life!?"

Jeter doesn't crowd the plate? LOL. He's famous for crowding the plate. Watch him as a pitch an inch or so off the inside of the plate, he'll throw his behind out as if it's inside, when in reality Jeter is standing on top of the plate. Arod I would say doesn't crowd due to his reach and being prepared to launch one in his wheelhouse on the inside.

Exactly. You said Jeter and Arod don't crowd the plate in real life, and if you reread my comment you'll notice how I begged to differ that indeed, Jeter does crowd the plate in real life.

I'm going to offer more of a gameplay tweak. Every time I played with the A's on last years game the console froze. No problems with any other teams.

Make the crowd more into the freaken game! Make better CHANTS!!!!!!! During the game they just chill there and little to no noise like a library lol An occasional 'overrated...' repeated 3 times isnt gonna cut it for me. I go to Yankee Stadium and its lively.... its loud... so much activity. I guess its just my gripe w the game lol

Most of you are on point about the gameplay and field minor flaws, i dont have anything to add.... sadly...

and yeah jeter does crowd the plate.

^^^correct. he's not crowding the plate. when the pitch comes in he dives out over the plate, and his swing in '07 showed that fairly well

HAHA, Anyways there is a reason why 07 is the best damn baseball game ever made, (atleast in my opinion) nothing significant has to be changed just build on what they have and improve the little things and it will make a difference in the end....

thats what i'm saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it. some more crowd noise would be nice though especially at clutch moments. i did read though that in the this year's road to the show you'll have to look down at your 3rd base coach for signs which i think is sick

ah no he does not! he stands off the plate bc he doesnt like the ball inside, when the pitch is thrown he steps towards the plate to hit the ball to right field, im not wrong trust me, im harcore yankee fan and i see almost every game, same thing with arod, he stands away from the plate bc he has a long swing, and likes the ball away so he can extend his arms, arod doesn like the pitch inside either

yes, but his stance should be much further away from the plate, his elbow should NOT be over the plate while in his stance, similar to arod

yeah man it is different. In the game he is standing way to close to the plate before the pitch comes in. In real life he stands away from the plate and steps towards the plate before he swings, thus making it seem that he crowds the plate. there is a difference.

anyway no big deal, bottom line if u notice in the game all the batter stand in the same spot in the box, which is really wrong, there are many hitters that stand in different spots

ex soriano and shefield crowd the plate, and players like jeter and arod stand away from the plate, they should fix this in the game.

sorry if i was rude, im just a hardcore yankee fan lol

I haven't really played a baseball game since MVP '05 on the PS2. I'm definately getting this game. It looks promising, hopefully it won't disappoint me.

i hear you man born and raised in Yonkers. I'm argreeing with you though i'm saying he does not crowd the plate in real life and he shouldn't in the game but he does. the game does a good job showing how he dives out after the pitch comes in but i'm agreeing with you that he doesn't crowd the plate in real life and therefore he should not in the game we're on the same page dude.

I'm a lifelong Yankee fan, too...but back on subject...

I would love it if the numbers on the players' backs weren't so low on their jerseys. That always bothered me.

Also, here's MLB08's most recent contribution to Playstation.Blog:

Many time players actually do try to hit the cutoff man, its quite simple baseball actually but your right that it is not always done. I am pretty sure there was an option when the ball was in the air to cut it off in last game if a player was close enough anyway.
