61 inches is too big for me. I have a 42 inch LCD 1080P TV and loving it.EnigmaticBeautyThat's exactly how I felt about my 40" Sony Bravia LCD. But I have to say, playing games on my new Samsung 61" LED DLP is a whole new experience! Bigger is better! The 40" has been downgraded to bed room duty.

Sry couldn't help myself,
but seriously i also have a 61" samsung and its amazing, the one in my bedroom is only a 26 LCD and its good, it does its job but bigger is better. and @ only 42 inch your barely seeing the effects of 1080p
I've read somewhere that LCD screens lag, is that true?EnigmaticBeauty
I heard of no such thing so I highly doubt it.
Edit: But, response time and auto motion 120 hertz technology really helps. If you're running at 4ms response time and 120 hertz, it's pretty much all eye candy. 120 hertz capable for movies but games will run at 60 hertz. It looks really smooth compared to a 720p.
Plasma's have a better picture not by much just alittle but they use more power and put out more heat and heat means shorter life for the tv. lcds are better cause they last longer and are cheaper and the picture is damn close to a plasma. So overall i would say lcds are much much better.

well downsatairs I have a 42" plasma and it does not give out too much heat. But in my rom I have a 26" breavia sn that gives out loads of heat.
Plasmas look a little better but if you pause a game and leave it for hours it could leave an imprint on the screen. Plus the use more ower but the colours are more vivid.

The question isn't LCD or Plasma it is all about how fine-tuned your LCD or Plasma is. I have been able to make my XBR Bravia look more vibrant than any plasma i've come across. Here's my points to look for: Fast response times: 120 Hz can really help 1080p: This requires AT LEAST a 40", my 52" looks fantastic Custom Settings: You WILL need to play around with your Picture Menu to get it Perfect and lastly, no DLP, I love Samsung, I would buy one of their lcd panels in a heartbeat but DLP is Sshiite So many problems even with the best models. Stay Away from DLP. Personally, I'm waiting on 40" + OLED so I can put the 52" XBR in the bedroom, only a few more years .... _sephex_
Well said, and I totally agree. Like I mentioned in my other post on this thread, auto motion plus 120 hertz and fast response time = awesomeness.
50" Samsung hp-s5053 plasma here and I love it. Accurate colors, no response time issue like lcd. Don't worry about burn in with new plasmas that is a thing of the past may have image retention but gone in seconds if you do encounter that. Best black levels, no flash lighting, or studder like lcd's.
If you weren't worried about burnin on you conventional tv then no reason to worry about it on plasma. Your over all satisfaction with a plasma compared to lcd for gaming, tv and movies will be great.
I was going to get a lcd recently to add to my plasma but gave up on that notion. I think to get a comparable lcd to a plasma is like finding a needle in a hay stack. To many instances of real bad studder on one lcd, take it back just to get flash lighting on the next in dark scenes, take that one back just to get subpar black levels. Nothing worse then watching a Star Wars movie and space looks purple or glows from the back light. Over all you can't really go wrong with a plasma, oh yea don't let people tell you they don't last as long either they are rated for the same amount of hours as lcd infact mine is rated for 60,000 hrs. Enjoy hunting and shopping :)
P.S. I'm sure you'll enjoy no matter what technology you chose lcd, plasma, dlp or even lcos :)
thats a load of bull. if thats true why would they make a 30" moniter at 2560x1600?. and @ only 42 inch your barely seeing the effects of 1080p

Anyway plasma has better colors and contrast than a lcd. But plasma is more expensive and the smallest plasma ive seen is a 37'.
I own a 26' 720p tv and it looks pretty amazing.

LCD is better for fast movementsEvenk93
No it isn't.
Either way all this thread consists of is:
LCD owners: "LCD is better"
Plasma owners: "Plasma is better"
Both technologies have their pros and cons, it really depends on how much you want to spend, viewing situation, and preference.
Plasma is horrible for games.RoganSarine
Actually Plasma is Better for Games, Response time is a major one, plus it doesn't get Blurry. And with Burn-in they can actually have the Burn-in go away now which can be well done if you watch something for a while and the Burn-in will go away. Earlier Plasmas do not have this but they now can do away with Burn-ins.

I have a 32 inch plasma. I posted the specs in an earlier post. It is incredibly smooth, and this is not based on fanboyism, but I really do think it looks better than any LCD I've played on. I have had little to no burn in problem. This is coming from somebody who is almost impossible to please when it comes to electronics, but I wouldn't prefer to play on any other television other than the one that I have. It is the only television that I am totally satisified with, and trust me, it's saying something. Now if only I could get blu-ray...
