Because we have friends. :lol:I still don't get what's so good about that, I sure understant chat when in the same game, but why would people chat when they're doing totally different things? Imagine you're with your squad in MAG and need only to concentrate on that and suddenly 3 friends come to chat about their Warhawk victory or the game they just bought? that's nonsense to me

It's a useless feature to me, I don't want to be talking to somebody in a different game. ESPECIALLY single player games like FFXIII, I can't concentrate on the story with someone blabbing in my ear!xsynthTo be fair, in FFXIII's case a distraction from the story might be a positive thing.
The people who don't understand about cross game chat make me laugh. I personally hope that they will make it more than four players as I use skype right now and I talk with more than 4 people.
Eh.
I can see the usages for the feature, but I won't pay extra for it. I have four people on my friends list. PS3 is just not the way I communicate or stay in touch with my friends so I don't "text message" or do any sort of audio/ video chatting with my console. When I am on my PS3, I'm GAMING.
I agree, why would you want to chat to random people why you're playing a different game? Anyway, as an owner of both 360 and PS3, I would love to be able to chat to my friends whilst they are playing different games. Even better would be a party chat system.for me its a useless feature , why should i chat with random online people i do not know while playing a different game

[QUOTE="MushroomWig"]I can't see the attraction myself, people don't really have anything important to say that can't be just sent in a text message.hxczunerDo you have any idea how inconvenient it is to pause the game every time you want to send a text? Voice chat is so much better. You might not understand it but a lot of people do, and they really want it...and they're louder than you so they're getting it. :P Thanks hxczuner, that's my exact argument. It's super convenient to do everything from one piece of hardware.
its cool if you have real life friends on PSN. but if its random ppl u have on your list that you met from games that you played then yea, i can see it being a useless featureLP4EVA2005
whats wrong with talking to people on your friend list
sometimes we all dont wanna play the same game but we'd still like to be able to shoot the **** together

Who said anything about talking to random people?
i said it , all my ps3 friends are just random people i do not know and met during playing , i thought the stament was clear enough "FOR ME its a useless feature" , id prolly use it if my real friends would play ps3 too[QUOTE="draudn"]
People in this thread have either never played a single-player game, or don't enjoy talking to friends.
spawnassasin
i pretty much came to this conclusion
its to much of a pain in the ass to constantly pause the game type a message then start up again then pause again to read then typethen start up again then pause again to read then type then start up ect. ect. ect.
its especially annoying on a finally boss
ya dont go to the cinema and talk to your mates the whole time do yers?
single player offers a story, atmosphere and level of immersion which make the game.
if youre just runnin around poppin heads while casually talkin to others you are not experiencing single player at all
people in this threade have either never played a single-player game, or suffer way to much from ADD

or maybe were just more social
I don't think I would need this but my friends have been recently getting PS3s so it would be nice to avoid the hassle of pausing the game to send messages to friends that just went online. And since this is based on people that have PSN+ I can talk to people I want to and not worry about haveing to talk to the not so favored people.
This is the whole deal really. How many of your friends will have PS+? You might end up buying PS+ and never using cross game chat cause you have no one to chat with. PS+ is not something I think I want to have personally. I already paid for Qore subscription, so unless they plan on refunding me for that, Im not buying PS+.I would really see the attraction in single player games. Text chat is so inconvenient and slow it makes me want to ignore half the messages I get. I wouldn't buy PS+ just for voice chat though. That would just be an extra little bonus for it.

I read that as long as one person in the chat is a PS+ member, ANY of his friends can join the chat regardless, just when that PS+ user leaves, the session automatically ends.I would really see the attraction in single player games.
