I'm guessing that majority of people are going to say Call of Duty, but I was just wondering if there are any other military-related games out there that people may enjoy playing more the CoD. I beat CoD already and sold it back, but I want a military game to play again. Should I re-buy CoD or are there other ones out there that you guys can reccommend? thanks!

If you want realism, you certainly won't get it with BFBC2 or MW2. I'd say Rainbow Six Vagas for modern and Red Orchestra for historical shooters.

BC2 is a fun military tactical combat game that is of great quality. In terms of realism try Operation Flashpoint dragon rising.

CoD and BFBC aren't very realistic....The guy up top is right on-Operation Flashpoint, Dragon Rising. (Dont' be fooled by the name). Just watch the reviews on here. The game gets like 8/10 or 4/5. It's not a 10 because it's too realistic. Haha.

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising is quite realistic, though proceed with caution with this game.

It's cool and all, but to tell the truth, I did find the game a little dull, there are more exciting shooters to play on PS3, imo.

It's good for a rental.

I agree with Operation Flashpoint very realistic yet that could be a bad thing.

Operation Flashpoint dragon rising is your best bet. I had lots of fun in co-op with this title.

Operation Flashpoint is the closest thing to the "real" thing available on PS3.

i agree with this as well... you might get what you want in terms of the realism... but there's a chance you might feel that it's kinda boring... i suggest you try Battlefield: Bad Company 2's MP...

Operation Flashpoint indeed. You'll have to forgive the somewhat questionable friendly AI at times as well the usually predictable enemy AI.

Yep, like everyone's saying Operation Flashpoint is the closest real shooter on PS3 your going to get. If you play PC games i'd probably go with ARMA2

Operation Flashpoint is the most realistic but I think you should go for the new battlefield as the audio in that game is amazing and the vehicles in the game are based on real ones.

Depends whether you want an enjoyable game or a realistic one. Be warned flashpoint is incredibly buggy and has poor visuals.

if you want realism go get a good PC and buy ARMA 2 its probably one of the only army simulation games out there. CoD/BF games are not real in the slightest

socom is pretty good but there are some major flaws with it and its not really realistic in some aspects

ArmA II or Red Orchestra on the PC. There isn't, well, any realistic military games on any current generation consoles... even Operation Flashpoint 2 (which is you best bet for the PS3), really strays away from the original developers highly realistic first. Otherwise the vast majority of shooters are anything but realistic, even former series like Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon have been reduced to a shell of what they were. However, arcade shooters that tend towards realistic principles? Well I suppose you have MAG, Socom, even COD and Battlefield BC etc.

Operation Flashpoint or Socom. Most people will tell you socom sucks, but it doesn't now. It is actually a good game NOW. When released it was TERRIBLE.

I use to write reviews for another web site and wrote a review for Operation Flashpoint:Dragon Rising - I gave it a good score - it defiinitly is more tactical than the regular "run & gun" style that COD and BFBC tends to be - although, when played properly, BFBC can be a tactical game if you get in the right squad with the right people.

Send me a PM if you'd like to read the review.

I have to say while it isn't the most realistic, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is one of the best.

Though, Killzone 2 is a sci-fi shooter it definitely has the most realistic feel. The closest thing you'll get beyond that is Battlefield Bad Company 2.

I love the COD and MW franchises "BUT" they a FAAAAAAAR from being realistic(that why they are so popular). If you want challenge and realism...go with GRAW2,RB6V2,Flashpoint and BFBC. You'll rarely(if ever)find any 12yr olds on those games.:)

Your best bet is probably playing MW2, or BFBC2 on hardcore mode...if not then I would say operation flashpoint, however apparently it was a let down. Rainbow six is also always a good choice as well. However, Rainbow six needs to get back to its roots with Rogue Spear, Black Thorn, and my favourite, Raven Shield.
