GTA III because there was really nothing like it and now almost every game has some element from it. No other game before it felt as alive and fun as that game did.
GTA San Andreas was the best one. There was so much to do in that, the soundtrack was great, and it had the largest environment out of any of the GTAs.

I would venture to say that San Andreas is the best feature wise. GTA IV was the most realistic but felt the most watered down. Vice City was too retro/80's for me and the original, Grand Theftu Auto III (which might as well be the first one as far as I'm concerned, is probably best in the sense that it came first, it was simpler but so ambitious at the time.
I would say half and half. SA/4. Both games got some things right and came short on others. Now, if only Rockstar can combine the two and bring it up three folds and make it available to ALL OF US, then it'll be great.
they all have their qualities, but I'm partial to San Andreas, the largest game maps of the series at that point. When GTA IV came out I was so into online shooter multiplayer that I couldn't hardly start it.
Since it's been mentioned in other posts. Soundtrack would have to go to SA hands down. Sure, I may know most of my way around Vice City's soundtrack pretty well. But SA was the one I could connect with the most. Since my teenage years began in the 90's.
in order: 1-gta3(coz this game started it all)8), the first time i played it my jaws dropped, and my eyes were possessed, and the world around me stopped.
GTA 4 might be a real beautiful and realistic game but the huge fun factor of the previous games was totally gone. I dont rly know why but in part 4 I just didnt want to create massive chaos on the streets or just race through the city and splash every citizen in my way... probably because the game is too realistic.
They succeeded in creating the most realistic sandbox game ever, but by doing this they completely destroyed all the fun.
All in all, I rly didnt enjoy GTA IV as much as I did with its predecessors.

People only sell to the highest bidder these days. You can't rule it out anymore.
Both consoles may have GTA4. But nobody really knows where the next one's going to end up. It all depends how much a "certain company" pays them for it.
Vice City is my favorite of all time. Best characters and the best setting.
And Emotion 98.3 is the best radio station ever.

Same here i love that station on the game plus I was made in the 80s lol,SA is second because there was alot too do in that game but man that game was big too big...
