Ok I may be a newbie but is there a reason why they don't release PS3 games in PSP form? I'm just curious... is it a money thing (when is it not) or a technical thing?
Anyone know?

The PSP has too many games that try and emulate the full console experience as it is to be fair, I don't think down porting PS3 games would work on a handheld. Im finally playing FF7CC now and it works well on a handheld system because it doesn't over complicate things and is accessible in bite size chunks.
PS1 Ports are fairly easy, PS2 ports can be done, but PS3 ports are... Well, not impossible, but the amount of time and money involved just wouldn't be worth it. I don't think they have any PS3 ports, and I don't think they ever will. Maybe on the PSP2...Granpire
PSP2 is most likely gonna be phone that not as powerful in terms of games than the psp 1
PSP2 is most likely gonna be phone that not as powerful in terms of games than the psp 1I think the rumours about the PSP phone might be true, but I know they wouldn't replace the original PSP with a phone, especially a less powerful one. My theory is that they may come out with the PSP phone and the PSP2 alongside each other, but I know anything with the PSP2 name on it will not be less powerful than it's predecessor. Just my two cents.rubedisky
Well thanks guys (and girls)I guess that leaves me with one option ... buy a ps3 :D..... or Xbox
Developers don't care about psp so much today....

AND many games for ps3 and xbox360 are too technically advanced to be ported to the psp. when companies even try to make a wii or ps2 version it comes out like garbage often. The only GREAT games that I know you can get for PSP that are also on ps2, xbox, or ps3 are Tekken , Ace Combat , Clank, and God of War . There are other good psp games, but i cant think of any others at the moment that are just as good as the wii/ps3/xbox360 versions.
If you want good multiplats, go 360. If its exlusives, ps3.Well thanks guys (and girls)I guess that leaves me with one option ... buy a ps3 :D..... or Xbox

Anyone else think that the portables will always be a generation behind the consoles? I mean, I consider the psp to be somewhere between PS1 and PS2. When the Xbox 720 and PS4 come out, the PSP 2 will be comparable to the PS3.
The 2 aren't comparible. That's like Nintendo releasing Wii games for the Super Nintendo :'). Seriously, the power of the PS3 isn't comparable to the PSP, powerful as it may be.DaavpukeI think a better analogy would be about releasing Wii games for the DS. It's not entirely impossible, but it's never been done, and to do so would mean a whole lot of downscaling and even more time.

It could be theoretically possible, but the amount of sacrifice and compromise made would render the qualities that make that console unique to be indiscernible. Console ports are always downscaled, and performance usually takes a hit, but the ridiculous amount of downscaling involved in a PSP port of a PS3 game would be make a broken, ugly game with such a low frame rate that the finished product would be unplayable. That said, it's much cheaper and prettier to create a console-specific version, like they're already done with many different PS3 games.
Get yourself a PS3 - you won't regret it :DWell thanks guys (and girls)I guess that leaves me with one option ... buy a ps3 :D..... or Xbox

[QUOTE="kipohippo021"] If you want good multiplats, go 360. If its exlusives, ps3. GranpireThat doesn't make sense... Doesn't multiplatform mean... well, multiplatform? Therefore, games that run on both the PS3 and the XBox? Then what you say means that you might as well get the PS3 because it's the system with the most exclusives, and the games that come out on Xbox are mostly multiplatform anyway. That's not entirely accurate. Anyways, this isn't a system wars argument, so I'm not arguing the validity of your statement, only the format. Your argument isn't very well-presented. :P 360 multiplats are better bc ps3 ones usually are ported.

Your argument isn't very well-presented. :P 360 multiplats are better bc ps3 ones usually are ported. That is such a generalization as to be laughable. As the father of a family of gamers "I" ( read "the family" ) have many games on both platforms and it is absolute nonsense to suggest there is enough of a difference to influence choice of console!!
360 multiplats are better bc ps3 ones usually are ported.kipohippo021As are Xbox ports. They only tend to work better when they are developed from a former PC developer, as the 360 is more closely linked with Windows than anything else. Besides, the ports on the PS3 are usually so similar to the Xbox version that the minor differences are merely trivial.
Its mainly because a psp version probably would not be worth it to the developers and putting a ps3 game on the psp would not just be an easy port, the game would would have to be rebuilt from scratch. Also like someone else said psp games just don't sell amazingly.Ok I may be a newbie but is there a reason why they don't release PS3 games in PSP form?
