Sony has seen fit to finally give us more classic PS1 titles to play on both the PSP and the PS3. The biggest ones of late are obviously Final Fantasy VII, Residen Evil: Director's Cut, and Street Fighter Alpha 2. Sony has also announced that Metal Gear Solid is soon to arrive on the scene with many more classics on the way. So now that Sony has heard the cries of the fans, let this be your chance to tell everyone what your top five most wanted PS1 games you'd like to see come out. If you can, please give us some more in-depth reasons as to why you picked such titles so this doesn't just become a list and also to help others that may have missed the PS1 era to know what great games there are to be had. Let us hear your cries!

Final Fantasy VIII - For me, this is an obvious one. I immediately downloaded Final Fantasy VII as soon as I found out it was available and this one is next on my list. It was beautiful, the story was phenomenal, it was hard as hell, and it was loaded with quality.

Chrono Cross- Few RPGs can match the might of the epic Final Fantasy series but this is one of those few. For those that missed out on this gem, this is the sequel to Chrono Trigger. The graphics and fighting system are a complete overhaul from the 16-bit original, as is the story. But what is there is the all important level of quality. Chrono Cross delivers all of the RPG goodness one has come to expect out of Square and should be in everyone's library.

Soul Blade- While many are familiar with Soul Calibur and it's greatness, it is not the first in this awesome fighting game series. Soul Blade first appeared in arcades as Soul Edge and was later re-titled when it came to the home system. However, that was the only thing that changed. All of the arcade perfection was squeezed onto a disc and made available for fighters at home to love without quarters. Should this game come out and if you're a fighting game fan, you owe it to yourself to discover or re-discover the origins of the incredible Soul Calibur series.

Final Doom - Say what you want about the age of this series, but all FPS games owe a lot to Doom. While it wasn't absolutely a perfect PC conversion, it was very close and Final Doom added a new level of difficulty. With all new levels and the original game engine powering it, this is the true sequel to Doom. This game would be a nice reminder for PS3 owners but it would feel even better to have Doom in the palm of your hand on PSP. Creepy music, new levels, and punishingly difficult, Final Doom is a FPS for all.

Resident Evil 2 - While we already are blessed with Resident Evil: Director's Cut, Survival Horror games would not be what they are today without Resident Evil 2. It wasn't so much that it broke new ground, it was just how refined it felt when compared to it's predecessor. A deep story and different difficulty levels depending on which character you choose, this game pur the horror in the survival horror genre.

There you have it, folks. That is my list. Now, there are many many more games I would love to see come to Playstation Network but this is my top five. I purposefully left the Gran Turismo series off because the PSP has Gran Turismo coming to it later as does the PS3. Soul Calibur is on it's way but Soul Blade is a different enough formula to warrant listing here. There are many great PS1 games out there. What is your list? Tell us all your top five and tell us why you want those games. Please give reasons so we know what makes them worth owning. Sell them for us. Make us want them as much as you do. The more we talk about it is forums like this, the more Sony will hear our cries and provide us with the games we so desire.

CTR is one of the best racing games on the PS1. I fully agree. It's already available in Europe and I can't wait for it to come to us.

Yeah, and why is it so hard to take all the things from the US store and put it in the Canadian store? It's like Japan>Europe>US>Canada, totally not fair.:P

They have too many Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games. I want Chrono Cross, and I can't wait for Metal Gear Solid, because I am the biggest MGS fan you could ever meet.

Oh, and one more thing...

GIVE US MORE FINAL FANTASY!!!

I want to see FFIV, FFV, FFVI, FFVIII, and FFIX on the PS Store soon. Those are the 5 I'm most anxious for right now.

Other choices being Arc the Lad Collection, the Lunar games, Grandia, Xenogears, and some of the other great RPG's from the PS1 era.

Part of the reason we might not see games like Alundra, Arc the Lad Collection, and Lunar (both 1 and 2) is because they were published and completely re-worked by the now defunct Working Designs. It's too bad about Working Designs because it was a fantastic company but they really did it to themselves. Every project they worked on was always a year over their projected release dates and many people lost interest in their projects by the time they saw the store shelves. I wouldn't count on seeing any of them come out as PS1 re-releases however, Lunar 1 is being remade for the PSP, so there is some hope.

2 of your games listed:

Soul Blade- While many are familiar with Soul Calibur and it's greatness, it is not the first in this awesome fighting game series. Should this game come out and if you're a fighting game fan, you owe it to yourself to discover or re-discover the origins of the incredible Soul Calibur series. (Finally someone who knows about the origins of the Sould Calibur series. Props to you).

(Excellent sequel that deserves more attention. I mean the 1st on is good but it has plenty of diffrent Versions and I have it for my DS. I want some RE 2 to play on my psp.)

Now my 3 other games:

Marvel vs. Capcom: (The superhero vs. games would also be cool). This game is awsome and fun. What other game lets you have Strider, Jill Valentine, and Mega Man on the same teams fighting other awsome charcters! I mean number 2 is coming to the PSN for the PS3? The least we PSP owners could get is the frist one from the PS1.

Dino Crisis 1-2: Highly Demanded and A Excellent Hidden Gem

Strider 2: The first one was amazing, and one of my favorite retro franchises. 2 improved on the formula, gave strider his signature scarf and Strider Hien a new playable charcter. Plus the game had Strider 1 with it. I want this game! I have strider 1 on my Capcom Classic Collection Remixed. How about 2 from the PSN?

I'm kind of confused by your answer. You say "Not talking abotu PSN" when talking about Final Fantasy VII but it is the PS1 version and that is what this whole thread is about. Also, Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil and Medal of Honor are already available (at least in USA). I'm missing your point I think

A lot of you are saying some great games and making me remember all that was great about my PS1. I still have all my PS1 games and my PS1 (with Sony screen) but it's different being able to play a game on my PSP. I thought of a few more that I think some people have forgotten:

UmJammer Lammy - This unofficial sequel to PaRappa The Rapper was an absolute blast to play. It helped pave the way for games like Guitar Hero.

Fear Effect/Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix- Some of you have mentioned this series but most people have forgotten all about it. Think Resident Evil meets Blade Runner and you have the right idea. Innovative and great. These games were also the first ones to use Cell-shaded graphics. Awesome!

Vagrant Story - I used to refer to this game as Medievil-Gear Solid. It had RPG elements and it's story was told in a comic book style. The graphics were awesome and the story was very edgy. I would love to play this Squaresoft gem again.

Breath of Fire III/IV - These games were not groundbreaking. They didn't do anyhting special to innovate of push the genre into a new direction. So why are they making my list? Because they were both so damn fun to play! While they were standard RPGs, they had good stories and were a blast.

Tactics Ogre - This is a re-make of a Super Nintnedo title that was only eleased in Japan and then brought out in the US on PS1. It's the precursor to Final Fantasy Tactics and it's part of the Ogre Battle series. This is a game where mature elements and a deep and dark story will keep you playing for hours upon hours. And the strategy involved is DEEP!

It's interesting for me to speculate and wonder how concerned Sony would be to release the Dual Shock Edition of Resident Evil 2. I guess it makes sense since it would be out for PS3 and PSP, but as far as the PSP by itself is concerned I can't imagine it being a huge priority. How well does the analog stick work with PS1 titles anyway?

One thing that is nice about the Japanese and European market having stuff before us is we can get an idea of what's on the way. Resident Evil 2 and 3 are sure bets as is Crash Team Racing because these games are already available in the other markets.

Great list-- though I've never heard of Fear Effect or Tobal. :P But you've got me interested in playing them. To add to that I would like to see Final Fantasy VIII, the only numbered Final Fantasy i've yet to beat, (excluding XIII and XI, which I don't even think you can technically beat) Tomb Raider 1-5, Chrono Cross and Resident Evil 2 and 3.

Can you play the original Wild Arms on your PSP? I know you can download it for your PS3, but as I don't have a PSP yet (and Wild Arms is one of the games I'd consider getting it for), just need to know if it's also playable on the PSP or not.

Yes, Wild Arms is available for PSP as a download. I think I might get it after I'm done with Final Fantasy VII. I remember Wild Arms and it was a good hold over game while I was waiting for FF VII to release back in the day. Suikoden is there too. Both were the best RPGs on the original PS1 until Final Fantasy VII came along. It'll be nice to travel down memory lane with both of those old school RPGs.

- Silent Hill, definitely, totally :) It's the best horror game ever created. Not SH2, SH3,... Prequel... Please Sony - put it on the PS Store :) - Front Mission was a good RPG also :) - Parappa The Rapper :) Awesome, classic :) - Soul Edge - it's immortal :)

Dew Prism (aka. Threads of Fate) is a great game and very underrated and underappreciated. I loved it. It was more fun than Brave Fencer Musashi, I think. Good call.

I'm with you on Fear Effect and Breath of Fire, but let's see the original Dino Crisis up there as well. I wouldn't mind seeing Vagrant Story either. I had it, never really got into it, ended up trading it in. Would like to give it another go (I also remember seeing it referred to as 'Medievil Gear Solid'. Not sure why though - a similar cinematic quality to its storytelling?).
