Sony 768p 55inch LCD Rear Projection 55xs955. It was Sony's top
model (besides 60inch) months before they released their first 1080p
SXRD (which couldn't even input 1080p from HDMI). So while the black
levels are not the best, it has tons of great options, making SD tv
look good, calibration real easy with more video controls, built in sub
actually makes the thing sound great.

I
paid $2800 shipped, no tax from OneCall.com, at the time BestBuy wanted
$3500 before tax. I literally saved $900 through online, which was an
authorized sony dealer. Now you could probably find it for $1800 if
somewhere instock new.
LG 50' 1080p Plasma. Awesome piece of sh**gp19
Â
What did that cost, $8000 or something? What about the new LCD panels, ones
at 120hz refresh rate. They have special engines to duplicate framerate
to that to make faster moving images keep their clarity in 1080p.

Did you tell them if you have your PS3 connected to their 50inch screen
they basically have a Blu-ray player and they can start renting HD
movies?TimothyB
yup but theyre still afraid ill burn out the DLPs lamp from playing so much, so it looks like once i get my PS3 ill have to stick to an SDTV until i make the money to buy my own HDTV

LOL, Just
tell them you'll replace the lamp for $200-$300, much cheaper than
having to buy a whole new HDTV, and it will probably be a couple years
before you need that lamp, unless you already had the tv for a couple
years. If you have to, buy the replacement bulb now, then show them
they have nothing to worry about. Keep in mind too, if a bulb is rated
8000 hours, thats 6 hours every day for 3.7 years, or 2.38 years for a
5000 hour bulb. Or atleast off to pay for half of the new bulb.

Looks good and is full 1080p
[QUOTE="Imallvol7"]32" LCD Westinghouse with 1080i and 720p and 1200:1 contrast ratio and 3.5 ms refresh rate. Pretty much stole it on black friday for 479$
It's not really with 1080i and 720p, the tv is either exactly 720p or 768p, no LCD that's not 1080p can fully display 1080i, but all of them support 1080i, meaning the tv won't go blank when you give it that, but will convert it to it's one native resolution.Â
