I have basic Time Warner Cable Internet Service, They gave me a Touchstone Telephony Modem. And I was wondering if the PlayStation 3 could connect to it via ONLY an Ethernet cable? Would I have to purchase anything else? If so, how much would an estimation look like?

yah its possible for it to connect with just an ethernet cable, all yo have to do is disconnect that ethernet cable from your PC and use it to plug into your PS3 then reset your modem(unplug it for like 10 seconds then plug back in) and you should be good to go. I would reccomend a router though becuase to switch back and forth will get very annoying very quick, you can get a linksys wireless router for about 20-30$ and thats all you would really have to pay for and its pretty easy to set up.

If he's trying to save money on a router, he should just get a hardwire router.

Or check for sales... I got a Linksys wireless router for $20 after rebates at Best Buy. I dunno if they still do it, but they periodically have these sales where they throw all kinds of rebates atcha and it ends up being dirt cheap.
