What was your reason to buy a PS3?

Some say they bought a PS3, for the Blu-Ray, some for the games like Killzone2 MGS 4 or FF XIII. Or was it for the media options the PS3 had? Or even becuase u felt comfortable and trusted with Sony cos of the fact that the PS2 was so good in the past?

So what was your reason why u bought the PS3?

because i had a ps2 and was use to the controller and sony, also for killzone 2. If it wasnt for that game i would of got a 360, and of course all the extras you has to pay for on 360 eg. wireless adapter. Im not paying $120 just to get internet access!

I had the choice between the PS3 or a Wii, and I already had a 360, so the choice was an obvious one.

Oh, and MGS4, of course =P.

I bought the PS3 at launch because i was a playstation fan and thought there would be more good exclusive out for the PS3 when it first came out.

If i knew that most multiplate games couldn't match the 360 games and that most exclusive where delayed then i wouldn't have got the PS3 at launch but at the time i thought that the main exclusive i want is still coming to the PS3 so i just have to wait for it. Then the game i have been waiting for get announced its going to the 360. I just dont understand why Sony never done a deal to keep FF a PS3 exclusive.

I play consoles for game and that it. The PS3 has some great games coming out but it has been very disappointing to me because i expected better from Sony. It feels Sony doesn't really care about the gaming side of the PS3 like the did with the PS2. I will not trust a word Sony says about games and games release date for the next console they sold and i wont be buying at launch off of Sony again.

Well in my country many people don't know about xbox but playstation brand is very established. Very few of them bought original xbox and most of them bought ps2. So I did the same, bought ps2 in 2000.

Now, a little bit has changed. Xbox 360 is still not selling officially in our country ( it is selling a little better then its predecessor ) But Playstation has penetrated into country even more.

So I liked ps2 and the assumption was I would like ps3 and I did

And if you purchased a 60GB or 80GB, you get a little PS2 inside... Three-in-one deal... Not only that! You can surf the web too.. Seriously, it's a steal for $500.

havent bought one yet but I'm getting one soon cus I really enjoy playing my ps2 and I see what great next gen games I'm missiong out...like assassins creed, uncharted, mgs 4,re5 and more but mainly cus of gta 4...I got really annoyed when it got a 10/10 on gamespot and I knew I cant play it...I really..REALLY wonna play that game!!!..so in order to play gta 4 I had 2 options...either an xbox 360 or a ps3...and since the ps3 has no red rings of death, lower failure rate, free online, and nice exclusives the choice was easy (even though I really wonna play dead rising and crackdown and gears of war) I decided to buy a ps3

because i had ps1 and ps2 and enjoyed those a lot. i enjoy my ps3 more than i expected to when i first bought it.stealth82428

I bought a PS3 because i wanted a new console, before i just had an origanal xbox.

Features that sold the ps3 to me were free online, was sick of paying 40 pounds a year for live.

Better hardware, reliability (all my friends 360s have had RROD at some point), it was the newest most powerful console aswell.

Possibility of the best games this gen.

Resistance & Motorstorm looked really cool and i loved them!

Mostly certain amount games such as Final Fantasy VS 13, Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone and Littlle Big Planet. (Kingdom Hearts 3 if it is coming oon PS3)

Also I can still play my favourite PS2 games because when I got my PS3 it was a 60GB which I got a few months later after the PS3 launch backin March 07, but by the time it came around Christmas they were no longer selling 60GB PS3's in the UK.

Yes but it seems that the exclusives are slowly dissapearing. I bought mine for the the fact that I have much confidence in the PS3 and Sony, as i always had a PS in my home. Even besides that i also woned a xbox before together with a Cube and my ps2 back in the days. But at the point when I had to choose for the new Next gen console i bought the PS3 instead of what people say that i should buy the 360. Still i know the Exclusives that the PS3 has made me just want one

A few reasons...

1. I was overpaid by my work :P

2. I own a lot of PSX and PS2 games, and wanted to keep playing them without switching consoles.

3. Was told MGS4, Killzone 2 and FFXIII were exclusive to PS3 (I know FFXIII isn't now).

4. My friends had 360s and I didn't care for the console too much and news of the RRoD put me off the Xbox as well.

i trust sony's products, however i haven't trusted their judgement lately.

i guess the reason i wanted one was because i was already familiar with sony and i had friends who owned one. now i have all 3 and the ps3 is still the one i play the most.

the exclusives...mgs4, god of war 3 , tekken 6, gt5, warhawk, killzone, heavenly sword, ratchet and clank, jak and daxter, resistance, SOCOM, final fantasy 13 ( not anymore but versus AKA the better and darker version is still exclusive)....and that was even before littlebigplanet, uncharted, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja storm, valkryia chronicles, and DC universe online was even announced ReaperV7

Seriously, welcome to Q3 2008, not Q1 2007. PS3 has some great games right now. 360 has plenty if not more total exclusives but for a year behind it, the PS3 is doing very well.

I bought mine because of blu-ray, 1080P, free internet, better controllers, idea of motion sensing, have a PSP, have some PS2 games and had more I still wanted to play but didn't own a PS2 anymore. And it has much more PROMISE for the future. 360 is what it is, its already struggling to perform as well as PS3 in some games, the PS3 isn't even trying yet.

Not to mention I put Linux on my PS3 for fun and I can use any HD I want. People need to wake up to the next gen and USE your system, quit saying "I only use it for games!". You know how to use Linux, use it. You want to use the internet and you don't have a computer or someones on it already, use it. You want to watch a movie, buy a blu-ray movie. Get with the times, eventually 360 owners are going to have to get a blu-ray player, well as much as they "needed" to get DVDs instead of VHS. You can dodge it for a few years yet, but we'll have a few years of watching them in the books already.
