I never get rid of my games when I move to new systems though. I'd imagine, if I have kids, I'd like to leave them with my PSOne, PS2 and PS3 along with the games for when they want to play "retro" and appreciate how far technology has come. Another bonus, in another twenty years my original copies disc of FFVII, FFVIII, Metal Gear Solid and the Resident Evil games might be worth enough to pay off my kid's tuition. :)

...I am going to go out on a limb and say your kids are probably not going to give a f*ck about a PS1, etc. I mean how many of us cared about our parents' toys? I mean if you had kids now, that would be one thing. But *future* kids would probably be like 'wtf is shit'...given that it will be 20-30+ year old tech.

I don't see the next gen as a "game changer" the way the last was.  I expect to play games on my PS3 long after I get the 4.  Plus, I see a lot of uses for an internet streaming device with a blu-ray player.

[QUOTE="rawsavon"]...I am going to go out on a limb and say your kids are probably not going to give a f*ck about a PS1, etc. I mean how many of us cared about our parents' toys? you can start your children play with simple puzzlers and so on when they are young, not every child is going to be born with 18 years of age, when they can play r rated games with impressive graphics... btw, we got accustomed to better graphics over time, when your kids are young they might even appreciate the by-then-current technology more, since they had the chance to experience the progress...

@MondasM Why would someone 'start' their kids on anything? Should it not be something they 'choose' to do/want to do/gravitate to on their own? Also, given the way tech and the world is going (hell, 5 year olds have cell phones), the media influences will be so strong (even at school) that your old ass PS1 stuff is probably not going to interest them. Will there be the rare kid that it does? Absolutely. But I am just being realistic about how kids are...especially when all their friends are playing with ______. I reiterate the fact that most people here were probably not interested in their parents' toys. Were some here the exception? Of course. But if we deal with every exception no general rules can ever be drawn (about anything)

I'll probably trade my games in and sell the system. I'm not much of a collector.

whiskeystrike

Thats the best idea in Coolyfetts opinion, plus you still have all our Trophies to show for it, no need to keep dusk collectors.

why does this happen every gen? People go nuts like the world is ending if there is no BC with new consoles..its really annoying. I mean..how small are your homes if you cant keep multiple consoles? OR if you are that broke you have to sell a console to get one..tough..get a job,save..ect..same threads day after day and year after year..eh....

Look at this guy crying because gamers want to save their money or spend wisely? Thats so american.

I'll probably store it in my basement or something. 20-30 years from now, it's going to be sought after hopefully.

I don't usually replay games, so my collection would probably be sitting on a shelf.

I will keep them, along with my PS3. I am going to move the PS3 into my study and keep on replaying the classics just as I have this gen.
