GTA IV and CoD 4. Resistance has an interesting background, unfortunently the characters have the charisma of a rock, but it's interesting nonetheless.
Sonic Unleashed also had a good story, it was better than the story in Sonic 06. But what Sega needs to do for their next big Sonic game is make it about Sonic vs. Robotnik, not Sonic vs. Robotnik and some giant monster thing.
Siren: Blood Curse. I can't confirm myself that it has a good story, but I've been hearing a lot of good things about the story and I'm dying to play a survival horror game. That will probably be the next game I get.

The story in Siren is indeed great , but me and many others hated the end.Anyway, the whole thing is a must play.(wow I just rhymed)
