Battery life varies depending on what you are doing. 6 hrs approx for music, 3 hrs approx for games, depending on the game itself and 2 hours for UMD movies.
As for whats bad about the psp, I cant think of anything that i hate about the machine itself but the lack( which is now quickly fading) of quality titles comes to mind.

:shock:....ok......you can play music, videos and view jpgs on the psp. For music just connect the psp to you pc via a 5 pin usb cable and transfer your mp3s to the provided MUSIC folder( format the memory stick first) but if a file is wma then you will have to go online with the psp to activate wma playback support. for videos you will need to first convert it to mp4 format then transfer it to the MPROOT >100MNV01 folder if you have formatted the memory stick with firmware 2.50 or lower(not quite sure)installed or if you have formatted your memory stick with firmware 3.02 and up installed then you can just drop them in the provided VIDEOS folder (I recommend pspvideo9 which does all the crap automatically). For pictures just drop you jpgs in the PICTURES folder.
Honestly, battery life is comparable to the DS Lite. I've heard that the DS lite only gets about 5-6 hours of game time (the original DS got about 10-12 if I remember correctly). And like some people said, battery life is determined by what you are doing. With music I can get from 10-12 hours on one full charge. With gaming, depending on how CPU intensive it is, you can get anywhere from 3-6 hours. With internet you can probably get around 6-7 hours. The only bad thing I can think about on the PSP is the loading times. There are a lot of quality games, but since the PSP isn't as popular as the DS, it just seems that the PSP games are not as "fun".

and when u play 2 player does it link up like the game boys did?

there's no linking with wires like the gameboy did. It's all wireless now, and a lot of games allow one gamepack that can download parts ot eh game for other people to play.
The system isn't as well designed as a portable console when compared to the DS Lite. It's screen is unprotected, it's larger, and it has shorter battery life. What you get for putting up with those annoyances are better graphics, loads of multimedia functions, and a more hardcore games selection. I sold my DS Lite for a PSP because I didn't like all of the "non-games" on it so I believe the trade offs are more than worth it for the PSP.

If you setup a server on your home PC, you can also stream your own music library to your PSP from any hotspot. So, if you don't have a large memory stick, you can still access all your music.

the are reli rubbish thats it Mommy won't buy you one? lol i have a ds and a wii and i could easily afford a PSP. ill make sure you realise how much i hate sony.
I've only been dissappointed in battery life, load times off of the UMD, fingerprints & scratches on the screen, and lack of games that really take advantage of the PSP. Otherwise, it's a neat little piece of hardware.
