I haven't read or seen anything on a slim PS3 yet. The Ps3 is big and hard to store depending on your space but, pardon my ignorance, I don't see a sensible reason to pay another 400-600 bucks on something just because it comes in a smaller package, unless maybe we're talking about women here... The games cost enough alone, are you people made of money? LOL, make me understand, some one. Thanks for reading, hope to get an answer from my boy Slim soon... Don't take the woman comment seriously, slim is just an easy word to joke around with.

you arent expected to buy a second console. they made them since its cheaper to produce and can sell more units that way. they also run quieter (i think) and are a little more energy efficient. and from what ive heard, theyre more reliable. but theyre not BC and arent as "pretty". aka not a glossy finish. btw they cost 300 USD

Damn, maybe I should have waited for that model to come out. Oh well. I don't have any real regrets.

I have a 160gb PS3 and I love it, It makes alot of noise and gives off alot of heat. But on the other hand I own a Slim too. I bought it for 40 bucks. It dose pretty much everything the origional PS3's, besides let you install an OS like Linux.

Yeah, you can actually do alot with another OS like install Scumm VM and play old PC games on your PS3. I have Wolf3d, Duke Nukem, Fate of Atlantis, games like that on my PS3.

And it was also aimed for people who DONT have a PS3 already. Luckily, I was one of them and landed a PS3 slim. It's so much better than the 60GB version I had way back when. It's a much better and improved version.

The slim is basically the same as the phat, if you already have the original I don't see any reason to get the slim.

It does seem pointless, I'm happy with the Fat PS3, which looks a lot better too!
