It's right here in front of me... *sigh* I'm gonna go play some old school MGS now.

i hate to tell u guys this but here go's, i played mgs and i hated it, the story is like average Power Ranger movie, and the gameplay plays like crap in both stealth and shooter, i have my 500 bucks right here in my pocket for ps3, when im going to buy ps3 and see mgs4 for only 5 bucks im still not gonna touch it, and heres a proof that im not an xbox fanboy, xbox live is the most crappiest service i have ever seen in my whole life, and im ain't gonna buy a crappy machines that'll broke in the next 2 weeks and call the dammn microsoft too replace the dammn thing for every 2 weeks.jojo198

He's entitled to his own opinion. If you're looking for gameplay-gameplay-gameplay, MGS might not be for you. I'll be the first to say, the gameplay isn't top-notch, but it's near it in my opinion. MGS has always been more story than gameplay, which is why I like it. It's not a platformer where you jump around and kill things and get power-ups, it's something entirely more than that.

If you're looking for an overall, deep, enticing gaming experience, and you're not a thickheaded moron who will not understand the complex, interesting storyline, then play the game...if not, go play Super Mario Sunshine.

The Metal gear solid series is one of the best series i have ever played^^ MGS 4 will hopefully be the best game on the ps3

Well for Metal Gear it's mainly the story, the emotions of it and so on. Metal Gear tends to have a deep connection with it's fanbase. Metal Gear Solid 4 won't "save" the PS3 cause the PS3 is not doomed. But MGS4 will sell like hot cakes as it's the most awaited game in the industry. Not only that, but it'll be the final chapter in Metal Gear Solid. It is an epic event and a very big deal. Well, to those who like Metal Gear anyways and those who want to get into it. But it isn't an ordinary game though. Metal Gear is one of a kind. Maybe give it a shot and see for yourself.

The excitement starts with the fact that Metal Gear Solid was one of the best PS1 games(along with FFVII, RE2, etc), Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was one of the best PS2 games(along with both God of Wars, FFX, etc)...not to mention the emotion and cinematic beauty that all of the games have become synonymous with. If you played these games, you would understand that.

MGS is an extremely successful franchise, and MGS has done many things for Sony, and vice versa. The hype for this game is justified...not only does it not look 'underwhelming' or whatever it is the people in this thread have said, but don't judge a 4th game in a series if you haven't played the first 3, let alone not 1 of them.

For example, Devil May Cry 4...I've never played a Devil May Cry before, so needless to say, I'm not all that excited for DMC4...but does it look underwhelming? No, because I imagine myself being a person who's stuck with the series from the beginning. Their Dante is my Solid Snake.

What's your favorite game series? Who's your hero? Is it Zelda, is your hero Link? Is it Halo, is your hero Master Chief? I've never played these games, so I don't look up to Link and Master Chief as my hero--but I appreciate what they're like to some people, because that is what Solid Snake is to me. Try thinking of it that way...

To end this rant, I'll say that I beat the first Metal Gear Solid when I was 9 years old, going on 10. This game had a very big impact on my life. The first PS2 game I ever played/saw in PS2 graphics was Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. And, easily the most emotional experience I've ever had with a game was Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater...I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.

...I tried my best to express just WHY this game is so important to so many people, and why it is looked at as a 'savior', whether the PS3 needs one or not. TC, do yourself a favor--play The Twin Snakes(MGS1 remake), then play MGS2, then play MGS3, and then come and tell me you're not excited for MGS4, and then proceed to make an appointment for a CT scan.

Wow. Even the Japanese versions? That's intense. I'm a huge fan but I don't think I would have ever done that...but that's just me. I remember I saw Metal Gear sitting on the shelf in the mall priced for $7. No way I was passing that up. The MSX version is so much better though...that crazy forest was the worst.
