well i am just curious......... because iam thinkin of buyin a ps3 but i would like to know what things are being updated, but what are things that lack?? i know games lack alot! but i have been hearing the system overheats! its this true??? but i mainly want to know what are the new updates.........:)
The update will include many of the things people have been asking for, such as the ability to download from the PSstore while doing other things and new visualizations for the music player. The full details are still under wraps though.
Also no over heating, the system naturally gets hot but if you keep it in a nice ventalited area it's fine.
A lot of March update features are being kept secret. Right now Phil Harrison has only officially announced background downloading, and changeable wallpaper/background for the XMB is a speculation. Apparently there are some other large features, as Phil Harrison said (insert crazy Japanese Sony high level executive name here) would kill him if he said too much.

ps3 is an extremely well built system. System failure is that last thing you need to worry about. Hardly any complaints. Games are starting next week on a regular basis, and the big psn update coming in march. PS3 fixing to take off!

....if you put it on carpet, if it's in a well-ventilated area, it'll be fine. :)

is it fine if its on a towel? the reason its on it becuz I don't want it to get dusty. no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no towel heck ull b better of putting it on the carpet. Just put it in a open place where hot air can escape from the back of the console

I've had mine in a somewhat enclosed area. Its on a shelf of an entertainment center but it has 6 inches in the back and 10 inches on the right. As long as each of these have at least 4 inches and one side of it is open you'll have no problems. You dont have to worry about the side with the HDD because its not pushing any air out that way.
Its been rumered that a upscaling chip will activate in the ps3, and finally let hdtv owners that want 1080i and the 1080p that was promised with all games actually have it. Also its been rumored that you can change the wallpaper in the ps3 xmb like you can on the psp. Everything now is all speculation. All i hope is that this march update is actually well worth the time waiting for it.

Use a sock or a t-shirt so you don't scratch it and get an electronics vacuum to suck out the dust that builds up on the vents. Don't use compressed air as that just pushes the dust in.
I live in the uk and have a *** ps3 at the moment I can`t buy from the ps store network because there is no option for a uk address I think the march update will bring euro in line with the rest of the world.

Yo, I completely agree. My 360 just scratched a perfectly good copy of Oblivion. Now the game doesn't play anymore. I guess I'll have to trade it in and get the PS3 version instead now...
yep! well monday i am getting the 20 gig playstation 3! i cant wait! damn! i think these 3 days are going to be like forever!! ooh well but Hey! my friend has a ps3 and he was telling me that if you have a dsl you will have a very good connection on your web browser! so i guess you can have a very good web browsing on the ps3!:)

I just hope this new update won't screw up our PS3 once it finishes, because I've heard in the past before that updates sometimes messes up your console.
