I have my PS3 hooked up to HDMI upstairs. I went to go move it downstairs where it doesn't have HDMI so i was using component cables. When i plugged them in nothing happened. What do i have to do to switch the video modes. (I hope there is an easier way then switching the video modes upstairs before bringing it downstairs)

^^^--- That is correct, Hold the power button for about 5 seconds. It will chirp a few times and reset the video.

With the PS3 in standby just hold your finger on the power button until the second beep. This will allow the console to auto detect the correct video settings that is connected at the time.
