When purchasing a PS3 Game, or any other console/non-console Game for that matter... (And ONLY if Game Ranking affect you...) Do you:

A) Only purchase Games with a 10.0 Game Score
B) Only purchase Games with a 9.5 Game Score or Higher
C) Only purchase Games with an 8.5 Game Score or Higher
D) Only purchase Games with an 8.0 Game Score or Higher
E) Only purchase Games with a 7.0 Game Score or Higher
F) None of the Above
G) Gamespot/IGN Rankings don't affect my decision to purchase a Game.

I kinda do a combination of going with my intuition, getting recommendations, and looking up a metacritic score nowadays. At first, I went with my own intuitions. The result was getting games which looked fun for me, but ended up being terrible after a few weeks of playing them. These terrible games were also terrible in the eyes of game journalists. Afterwards, I ended up only buying higher-rated games. This was also a huge failure on my part since I ended up missing out on a ton of spectacular games which never got much recognition yet would soon end up on my list of favorites. Now, I go for a combination for both. For example, I bought After Burner: Climax on PSN despite GameSpot's 6.5 score because of the fact that it was going on sale for 5 dollars, the metacritic score suggested a higher overall score, and the fact that I knew in my heart that on-rails games combined with airplane combat was pretty much my favorite genre in video games.

I research it myself. I've bought many games that reviewers and other gamers hated.

You really don't need to check the game score of a game. if you find it entertaining or you watched a review on it and like it,go ahead.

Provided that a game doesn't get horribly low review scores, I just buy whatever I'm interested in. Extremely high review scores turn me off as well - it seems like every one I've bought was a huge disappointment.

For the most part no. I buy whatever games I want regardless of score. Some games that I only have a mild interest in I'll usually pass on if they have bad scores, and a good score can push me to get the game more, but if I really want the game I'll get it regardless.

i do whatever i want. I mean, there is no strategic plan, magic formula, or anything carved in stone for how I make my game purchasing decisions. Each game (and its corresponding purchasing decision) is a completely different animal, and that exactly the way i treat it. For some games I may require detailed research and outside opinion, while for others I may simply require for them to exist (like MGS, GT, etc which are "instant buys" in my book). that was my long way of saying option F) :)

I usually wait and see what others say, then watch videos to see if the gameplay is worth the fuss. I am very picky about my games but i do take into account what scores they get if its a "1.5 DON'T BUY!!" Then i look elsewhere, anything above 5.0 that looks interesting I'll have a closer look and see if i buy it or not.

Usually if it gets at least 8.0 in GS and/or IGN, its a definite "must buy" for me. But the best score in the world doesn't mean jack if the game's subject matter doesn't appeal to me. I'm horrible at RTS games, so I'll never buy one, regardless of score. Batman Arkham Asylum is a great game, but I'm not into all that superhero schlock. Sports game aren't really my bag. But I definitely go for FPS, RPG, racing, adventure, etc.

Other: 7.0-10

I usually get 6.0-6.5 at very low prices.

I don't watch to touch 5.5 and lower since all the ones I played sucked.

I generally buy whatever I want but all of that happens to be stuff that is always ranked 8.5 and up, the last thing I bought with a lower review was Phantasy Star Zero for DS which I actually think is far better than most games that are getting 9s and up.

I just do a bit of cumulative research, I've only bought 1 or 2 duff games on the cheap with no knowledge about them.

I just buy gams if I think I'll be interesated in it. I've played some great games that I have enjoyed more than games that have been highly reviewed. I've found quite a few crap ones too, like that bloody Gundam game, Christ.

I buy games that looks like I would like and I also go to Google Videos and check out gameplay videos. However, any game that gets lower than 6 on GS, I would seriously consider if it's worth it or not.

I look at previews and gameplay videos, thats how I decide. Even if Dead Space 2 somehow got an 8/10 when it comes out, I'll still play it knowing that it'll be epic!

game rankings dont affect me much,if a game interests me, i look at the rankings but if it has a low score then i just look into the game a little deaper, watching gamplay videos and stuff. I have bought games with low scores and have really liked them.
