actually residentevil4 is the best looking and it still looks good on my ps3....anyways there wont be ps2 games upscaling, but they are doing dvd upscaling

According to what I read, eventually they're going to include upscaling at least for the European consoles without the Emotion Engine. Whether or not those of us with consoles with the EE will get it as well, nobody knows. I definitely hope so. My PS2 games look great on my SDTV, but crappy on an HDTV--and PS1 games look like crap on it either way. (And no, it's not because I'm used to the newer graphics. They look noticeably better on my PS2.)

I hope they do eventually come out with upscaling for the games. If so, once the price comes down a bit more I'll probably buy myself an HDTV.

Are you kidding me? As of Sunday (XBOX Elite) I now play my original XBOX games in upscaled 1080P w/ anti-aliasing. My PS3 sits at 480P w/ anti-aliasing.

Come on Sony, keep up w/ the competition.

Maybe, they should ask MS how they pulled off 1080P upscaled w/ anti-aliasing for XBOX games on the Elite 360. Sony continues to drop the ball on the software portion of the PS3. By the way, Elite 360 now upscales DVD's to 1080P.

Your correct. Let's hope Sony provides a developer's kit that enables the vertical scaler. In late Jan. 2007 Sony released a new developer's kit that enabled the horizontal scaler.

It would be nice to play God of War & God of War 2 in 1080P upscaled on my PS3.

incorrect.  Sony has stated that with the move to software emulation, it is possible that some games will be upscaled to HD.  They plan on doing it, but they didn't say when and what games.

what really sucks is for the ppl that only have tvs that output 480P and 1080I. These games are being made in 720P so they get down scaled to 480P because the tv will not output 720P. Those are the ppl that need the scaler justinblair2

funny you mentioned that. i do have a orginal mk 2 at my house with killer instint and sfa and umk3. marvel vs capcom. but, your right no online.

Secondly, I'd much rather have 98% compatibility with PS2/PS1 at standard def than upscaling but most of the thousand games on the software compatibility list working with noticable issues.

It'd be nice if they do soon because I am planning on buying a LCD HDTV (relativetly small) so I can play games in 720p HD rather than on my 65" HDTV with 1080i and 480p, excluding 720p. SO, my games play in last gen 480p which is just plain not acceptable for a next gen box.

Problem is when I buy my new HDTV, and just by my luck, the upscaler will be introdcued which will upscale 720p images to 1080i if the TV doesn't support the 720p resolution.UTXII
