I recommend buying it on Amazon.com when they get them back in stock. It will be $299.99 with no tax and super savings shipping. They occassionally get them in stock and it is easy to check on the site from your house. Last week they had them in stock for about 6 hours and I did not jump on it and am playing the waiting game too.
i live in new york too, most of the gamestop in queens have them in stock. so u didnt quiet look everywhere :PJoKeR_421realize that just because they have the boxes and price on display doesn't mean they have them. i asked in a couple of gamestops where such was the case and they're all sold out
It's so blatantly obvious Sony is doing this to create false demand..the feeling that the PS3 is so sought out after that it's hard to keep them on the shelf, when in fact they held back stock purposefully to create headlines and boost lagging sales. I talked to several GameStops's here where I live and they all said that they were getting like 2-3 in each week or every other week. That's crazy!gamer082009Well while that could be true I just really don't think they'd do that 1. During Tax Refund season and 2. Right before final fantasy xiii and God of War 3 came out. It may seem like a good idea but I can only imagine sony is losing a lot of money on this. Some of their decisions may be dumb but when it come to making money a company that big isnt THAT stupid.

Depending on how much money I get for my birthday, Im planning on getting a new Slim. I already own a 40 gig refurb from Gamespot and it has thus far worked like it was new, but I sometimes worry about it breaking down, so I think I will get the 120 gig Slim and just keep my 40 gig for a back up.
People around here don't seem to like buying from department stores for some reason. I see people complaining about not being able to find a game or some gadget, and then I go pick it up in Walmart or Target where they have dozens on the shelf. I guess it's just because those stores don't have "Game" in their title or something.I was at a walmart earlier today they had like 8-9 120's :-/

wrong..amazon is currently selling it at 350-500 due to the outage right now. (this may be due to 3rd part sellers selling them at this price) once they get the item in then yes they will sell it at normal price.I recommend buying it on Amazon.com when they get them back in stock. There were some 60 gig systems that had bids in the thousands back then.[QUOTE="doesntcare"]People around here don't seem to like buying from department stores for some reason. Yea my area wally world here finally got the white ds3's...
Obviously, it depends where you live, but I'm sure I could find tons of ps3 where I am. It's not as if they just stopped producing PS3s. Wait a week or check Amazon if you want it that badly.

They hardly ever have better prices than department stores, yet they specifically sell games. It makes absolutely no sense why so many people go there, especially when people sell their games a few weeks after it was released, and in horrible condition at that. It's called renting for a reason....I was at a walmart earlier today they had like 8-9 120's :-/
