When will Sony ship more PS3s already? Been waiting for weeks now for some to be in stock online and in the stores here in New York (checked everywhere). I also know that they will be releasing 2 new versions of the slim and thats the reason for this shortage. But anyone know how long this will last or when they will begin shipping the 2 new models? http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/22/sony-slips-two-new-ps3-slim-models-through-the-fcc/ Anyone from the FCC, help a ps3 to be owner out with some info. I need a Ps3 b4 spring break.

I recommend buying it on Amazon.com when they get them back in stock. It will be $299.99 with no tax and super savings shipping. They occassionally get them in stock and it is easy to check on the site from your house. Last week they had them in stock for about 6 hours and I did not jump on it and am playing the waiting game too.

It's so blatantly obvious Sony is doing this to create false demand..the feeling that the PS3 is so sought out after that it's hard to keep them on the shelf, when in fact they held back stock purposefully to create headlines and boost lagging sales. I talked to several GameStops's here where I live and they all said that they were getting like 2-3 in each week or every other week. That's crazy!

No one really knows when the supply and demand will be meet. Back when the PS3 was first released this happened for a while until manufactureing was able to keep up and sur-pass the demand. I just wonder what the delays are caused by.

realize that just because they have the boxes and price on display doesn't mean they have them. i asked in a couple of gamestops where such was the case and they're all sold out

Well while that could be true I just really don't think they'd do that 1. During Tax Refund season and 2. Right before final fantasy xiii and God of War 3 came out. It may seem like a good idea but I can only imagine sony is losing a lot of money on this. Some of their decisions may be dumb but when it come to making money a company that big isnt THAT stupid.

Depending on how much money I get for my birthday, Im planning on getting a new Slim. I already own a 40 gig refurb from Gamespot and it has thus far worked like it was new, but I sometimes worry about it breaking down, so I think I will get the 120 gig Slim and just keep my 40 gig for a back up.

People around here don't seem to like buying from department stores for some reason. I see people complaining about not being able to find a game or some gadget, and then I go pick it up in Walmart or Target where they have dozens on the shelf. I guess it's just because those stores don't have "Game" in their title or something.

wrong..amazon is currently selling it at 350-500 due to the outage right now. (this may be due to 3rd part sellers selling them at this price) once they get the item in then yes they will sell it at normal price.

This happened back when the PS3 was first released. There were some 60 gig systems that had bids in the thousands back then.

Well while releasing it for that much was dumb they were taking a $300 loss on every ps3 sold at release. And even though we complain about it look where it landed the system now. It was built with good technology so it would last for several years. So with the 360 already beginning to show it's age the ps3 still has a good few years, which is what sony wanted to do.

sony obviously intentionally takes a loss on the console because they make their money back on games/accessories/service etc.

Obviously, it depends where you live, but I'm sure I could find tons of ps3 where I am. It's not as if they just stopped producing PS3s. Wait a week or check Amazon if you want it that badly.

If anything, Gamestop is the last place I'd go for games. They hardly ever have better prices than department stores, yet they specifically sell games. It makes absolutely no sense why so many people go there, especially when people sell their games a few weeks after it was released, and in horrible condition at that. It's called renting for a reason....
