I would say get both if you can.  In the past I haven't been that big of a FPS guy, but I had a lot of fun with Resistance.  Motorstorm looks amazing, it is some fun, but I feel like it gets kinda repetative.  I haven't finished it yet though.  If I could only have one, I would say Resistance.  It's mainly all about what you are in to...

Hey man PS3 is amazing, i got one last week.

I got Motorstorm, which is a great game even if you dont like racing, its just crazy and you will love to watch the crashes, even my girlfriend loves motorstorm, which means now i never get to play.

About resistence, I'm not a big fan of that style of game, but i hope my opinion on MS, will help your decision a little

whoa im sorry but these games are not that great.  I have a ps3 so dont think im dissing the system or fan boying sh!t.  But honestly resistance is not that great of a game.  Resistance had great marketing its over rated.  Compared to a game even such as Call of Duty 3 for PS3 it is crap.  Dont GET ME STARTED ON HALO 2. 

Side story for intro

I bough PS3 on launch day.  Got resistance.  I played it and beat it.  I have played online multiple times as well... very over rated.

The game is good dont get me wrong but if i had known about Call of Duty 3 i would never have considered purchasing this game.  I rented Call of Duty 3 and found myself instantly wanting to kill my RESISTANCE disk.  I kept the game over due just because the online and single player were amazing.  for the whole week and a half i had Call of duty i not once touched or considered playing Resistance again.  Call of duty is a much better FPS if  thats what you are looking for.  

Rent both games first then buy trust me.

As for Motorstorm

This game is beautiful i actually like it a lot but....

DO YOU REALLY WANT TO PAY 60 DOLLARS FOR A LONG DEMO.

The online is very overrated.  Honestly i think its just console-heads who never pick up PC games who are giving motorstorm's online a good push.  The same issue is with Resistance,  console-heads dont know how to play online games.

 If you want a nice racing game for PS3 go out and buy... o wait i mean download the Gran Turismo HD demo, it will satisfy you just as much as Motorstorm and it looks EVEN BETTER, THAT IS IF YOU HAVE THE PATIENCE.  

But i would play Gran Turismo HD the demo over motorstorm any day.  

In short Motorstorm lacks depth and is too short and the online is not as good as its said to be and Resistance is overrated.

I hate XBOX i have a PS3, im in college and my friends have XBOX, i have Resistance, we have not yet touched Resistance since i opened at college, HALO 2 still is the game of choice and i would choose HALO 2 over Resistance any day ( LET ME STRESS THAT I HATE XBOX SO I DONT GET CALLED A FANBOY) BUT IF YOU WANT TO STAY ON THE Same CONSOLe get Call of Duty 3 for PS3 its amazing.
