can anyone give explain to me the differences between the 2 PS3 consoles? also, is it worth getting one over the Xbox (considering the price, games etc)? Is it true that PS3 online is free where as on the 360 you have to pay and is it as reliable and populated?

the difference between the ps3 models is the hard drive size tho from what i understand, you can only get the 40gig size till the 12th when they ship the 80 gig bundle with mgs4. the 40gig doesnt have backwards compatibility and i don't know if the 80 gig will. yeah you can play online for free -- I haven't had trouble finding matches online. I got my ps3 about 2 months ago and Im glad i did -- but then again i own the 360 also.

if u can afford the extra for the 80gig, go with that one. both consoles are have more value than the 360, when u consider how much more it would cost to upgrade the 360 to the specs of the PS3, just adding the wifi adapter would cost u 100 extra for the 360, which immediately cancelsout the lowerprice tg it has initially. and yes online is free.

Except WiFi for gaming is a joke. Just buy a 100ft ethernet cord.

As for the benefits...the 80gb has BC and the 40gb does not. Nor will it ever. I don't care what some firmware rumor says that 40gb does not have any of the required hardware components.

As for which console is better between the 360 and PS3 its a personal choice based on games. Don't let other people tell u what to buy. Google and research upcoming and already released games and make up your mind that way. Ideally, get both.

The 40GB can get BC, it just depends on how much resources Sony would be willing to use up developing full software emulation. I doubt that it will get it however.

360:

- Larger selection of games.
- Robust online capabilities (at a price).
- More Media downloads (at the moment). Plus Digital Downloads can be a plus depending on who you talk to.
- Depending on which revision you get, there are more apparent overheating problems on the first revision 360s (the upcoming Jasper revision will all but eliminate this annoyance).

PS3:

- Wider variety of games.
- Free online (not fully realized yet due to Home being delayed).
- Hardware not as limited as the 360 (the HDD can be upgraded indefinitely without voiding the warranty).
- Blu-ray built in (making it future proof for the next generation of disc media), making it the cheapest fully realizable next gen disc player on the market.
- BC not available with the most readily available PS3 SKU (40GB). This can either be a pro or con depending on who you talk to.

It absolutely all comes down to games. It makes no sense to be arguing about which system is best if there are no games to back up that claim (it makes no sense to be arguing about it in the first place, but I digress). Choose whichever games you like, find out if the games you like are more likely on whichever platform, and enjoy playing the games (not the hardware).

Yeah, its all about what games you cherish and if blu ray movie play is important to you. If you dont care about blu ray then the 360 has more games....they both have their exclusives. I went ps3 because of the free online, wifi, and blu ray. I wasnt so concerned about older games and figured they would be equal going forward.

the diffrence is the size of the hard drive, also the 40 one doesnt have any backwards compatibility, and from what i heard the 80 gb has backward compatability now, and i think u should get the ps3, i mean i have had it for about 7 months now(and i also played on the xbox many times)and the ps3 is just amazing and ive never had any trouble finding a game, for example, i turn on the ps3 start cod and go into an online game in less than 2 minutes. and yeah the ps3's online is for free but u have to pay for the xbox. also the fact that u cant connect ur xbox to the internet wirelessly and the fact that it has a disc drive(not slide in ) is just messed up!
