Which Game was the BIGGEST flop of 2008!!

I'm not going to come onhere with the definition of a "Flop". Statistically speaking, Konami's Rock Revolution was the BIGGEST flop. Haze was hyped for YEARS and was so bad, it went into bargain bins in the same year it came out. That's of course, without mentioning it's dev team has NO CHANCE of getting another job in the industry. There's just NO EXCUSE for spending so much time in development and testing and STILL coming out with something so mediocre.

My biggest concern for the current gen, is the multitude of games that release with bugs. Game testers are failingacross the board for MOST publishers. Mercenaries was a joke. The bugs it contained reminded me of many PSOne games. Other bugs like the morocycle ramp in Tomb Raider halting progress and Silent Hill Homecoming's Clock puzzle bug which changed the answer to a random time are also unacceptable.

In the current gen, it's slowly becoming common place to check games' official web sites for updates on bug reports. In the case of Tomb Raider and Silent Hill Homecoming, both publishers have out right REFUSED to make updates resolving the issues. Instead, they tell the consumer that they must resort to an older save or begin the game from the beginning. UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!

Any generation before this one NEVER had game halting bugs. If you play a game, you should be able to complete it. PERIOD!!

it seems a few people here really don't understand the meaning of the word "flop"... GTAIV was NOT a flop. a flop is when there is a lot of expectations for something, and it SEVERELY underwhelms. not slightly, but DRASTICALLY. THAT is a flop. GTAIV scored nothing but 9's and 10's, as well as selling MILLIONS of copies and making too much money to count. in no way, shape, or form, is GTAIV a flop. just because a few of you felt disappointed for one reason or another, which i frankly don't understand why, does NOT make it a flop.

a REAL flop, would be Haze! Haze had the entire PS3 userbase thinking we finally had a Halo-killer on our hands, and as someone else humorously put it, all it did was kill the studio that made it. off the top of my head, no other game really flopped as hard!

a couple of others do come to mind... Motorstorm 2 was the follow-up to a game that had sold 3 million copies the first time, but then again, 2+ million of those were packed with a PS3, so how could they possibly expect it to do anywhere near as well? it's a shame too, because i thought the first one was quite good and the second deserved to do much better than it did. fortunately, it's been doing pretty decently in europe from what i hear.

another game that flopped pretty bad was Bioshock. PS3 players had to wait over a year, and then still had to pay FULL PRICE for the EXACT SAME game! if we wanted to get access to the "cool, exclusive new features" we have to pay an EXTRA $9.99 on TOP of the $59.99!? no thanks... it's not too hard to see why this one sold as badly as it did. fortunately, there was a permanant price drop to $39.99 at Best Buy, and 2K released that online coupon of theirs, good for $10 off any of their games, so at a much more reasonable price of $29.99, i think i might just pick this up :-)danduron
