I am buying a ps3 and the nearest store has old stock of 20 gb ps3 !!!

now i have heard 20 GB ones are backword compatable and the new ones(40and 80) are not !( i do not have PS2)

so should i get the 20 gb one or buy 40/80 gb ps3.

is there anything extra in 40/60gb PS3s.

if u are plannin on playin ps2 games then go buy the 20, and upgrade the hdd, if u dont want ps2 gaming, then buy the 40

the 80 gig has SOME backwards compatibility if it interests you

Yeah the 20 gig are full BC, so I suggest getting it and upgrading the HDD, but if that doesnt interest you, the 80 gig has like 90% PS2 BC and full PS1 BC.

The 40 gig has 0% PS2 but 100% PS1 BC.

I got the 40GB, I got it casue it was the best priced one. If you don't have a PS2 with no games then, i don't see why you would want th3e option of being able to play them. Iv'e traded most of my ps2 games anyway to get money for PS3. I think you should get whicheveer you can afford but the 40 GB one is probably the best option formost people as it is the middle price range.

You can always go to the Sony website and look to see if your PS2 games are compatable with the 20/80 Gb. Everything I have and would buy works on the 80 so I decided to get that. How much are the 20's anyway?

The 20 and 60 NTSC PS3 had all the BC hardware needed for PS2 games, the thing is the 20 doesn't have the built in wifi. Both of these support about 95 to 99 % of PS3 games. The 60 PAL and 80 gig uses software emulation along with some hardware and support somewhere around 85 to 90 % of PS2 games and with firmware updates it keeps growing. The 40 gig has absolutly no hardware needed to allow the emulator to work, that's why there is no PS2 support on this SKU. There may be a chance that some PS2 games could be purchased from PSN that will work on the 40 gig PS3 but no hard copy support.

Go for it! You won´t regret. I´m an ultra happy owner of a PS3 20GB! I use my BC quite a lot, especially now, with all the hype of MGS4!!! The BC of my 20Hb model works great when replaying MGS2 and MGS3!

WiFi is not a problem for me, since I have a wired connection! :)
