Picked it up yesterday after having read some negative reviews. I'd waited for years for this game so I wasn't going to let some random persons opinion deter me. Glad I didn't. I'm not even that far into the game, and have yet to touch the multiplayer, but the past 3 or so hours of time I've put into it have been enjoyable.Azurathe

I also played a tad last night at my buds house. I thought it was pretty good considering I dont like these types of games. Here is something I was thinking, and I could be wrong totally..

WKC is a PS exclusive. What if most of these reviewers are payed off by MS or just MS fanboys and they are giving bad scores because of this? BUT the almost exact same game Dragon Age Origins gets 9s or better???Its multi console..??huummm???I dont know, its just a thought..

Gamespot was also paid off by Microsoft to give a bad score to Metal Gear Solid 4. After all, it's crucial that one of PS3's biggest games doesn't get the score it deserves, RIGHT?

Why would MS pay Gamespot to give a PS3 exclusive a perfect score? God knows that while the game was good, MGS4 didn't deserve it.

I was looking over the review section again, and the guy who reviewed the game mentioned in the comments section that he somewhat enjoyed the first 10 hours of the game, but as an overall package, he didn't think it was up to par. Having watched the video review, what he mentions just stands out all the more. When he opened up that map, I was like damn, that's a huge maze to get lost in. And I think the criticisms he's leveled at the game are relevant, except for maybe voice acting and story, because there wasn't much shown. I was gonna get this game. Now I probably won't unless I'm tempted at a price drop. And to those claiming the score is low because jrpgs haven't evolved, please, don't judge evolution on mediocre games.

it's an honest review, my friends and i played the first 2 hrs of it, and it's whatever. Nothing stands out of the game, it's just ordinary. From the plot to the combat.

Definitely not worth $60.

All I can say is that while not groundbreaking, a game with that much customization, multiplayer aspects and generally an interesting combat system is worth way more than the 6 Gamespot gave it. My favorite RPG this generation after Mass Effect 1 and 2 and Valkyria Chronicles. Yes, even more than Dragon Age.

Some of you are acting like you've never played games with great unique stories before. The con of having a predictable story is a legit con. Once you're used to great stories, you shouldn't care too much about predictable ones. Defending the game by saying the story is predictable in every game, is an insult to every game that has an original plot.

In general there aren't many JRPGs with unique stories. they have all been pretty much the same since I started playing JRPGs. the big exceptions being the SMT games, Xenogears, and cannon final fantasy games. last gen there wasn't one JRPG outside of the SMT and FF games last that I considered to have a great story. also none of the stories in previous level-5 games have been very notable (except for maybe Rogue Galaxy and Jeanne D'arc I'm in the middle of both at the moment so i cant say for certain one way or the other). If you enjoyed Dark cloud i doubt it was for the story. I really wish JRPG devs would just start hiring real writers, and writing more mature/complex stories.

the combat looked absolutely tedius. I dont mind turn based battle at all since I like FF series however I have never seen each turn takes so long to activiate. The gameplay demo killed any potential interest for me.

I can agree to that statement for the most part. My earlier post was based on me only having JRPGs/games with unique and/or mature stories, and the apparent disregard for said games from a few here.

I was quite surprised about the score Gamespot gave it but then again I surpose that White Knight Chronicles will be one of those games that you gotta love it or hate it.
