i don't have a ps3 yet, but even if i did i wouldn't buy mgs4.
i know it's EXTREMELY important to many people in the world, but stealth games is just not my thing.

You shouldn't be. Seriously MGS is one of the greatest game series ever.
not in my eyes its not, i cant stand it, loved watchin the first one, could never get into the second and same for the thirdI tried MGS1 and didn't survive long, the gameplay and mix of intrusion/stealth/action seems difficult to me ; tried a demo of MGS3 and was so stressed by all the things you have to keep in mind (traps, enemy position ...) that I didn't go far too.
So I won't get it.
[QUOTE="Vicious-sama"]
[QUOTE="jacintos09"]eh i've never really been into the MGS games. i understand that it's hugley popular with a lot of people, but it's just not for mejacintos09
Good because MGS4 is gonna be a MANS game.
No wonder.
[QUOTE="ironwarrior2"]Not me. I hate MGS. Watch an hour cutsceen, play 10 min, watch an hour cutsceen, play 10 min, BORING. And even the 10 min of gameplay is lame. Watch your radar and avoid enemies, lame. And the stupid "story" is as dumb as it gets.BoD_GOA_French
I agree. Im sure its going to be a popular game, but I have never really liked the MGS series. Im not planning on getting it, but I might change my mind down the road.
AH CRAP, I MEANT MIND. YOU SEE, THIS BORING GAME IS ALREADY AFFECTING MY WRITING, AND IT HASNT COME OUT YET.
aarrghh!!!!!

You dont have to blame the game for your crappy writing. Your writing is crap at default.
Anyway, its all about opinions. I like this you like that. I love MGS you hate mgs. I like pancakes you like waffles. You dont have to insult the game.
I dont like Gears of war, but i respect those who liked it, and i understand.
Just say you're not getting it if you dont like it. Its what this post is all about.
I just reported you too "My friend" . I'm allowed to have a personal opinion, that's why I have reported you... The game by all means isn't that good. Splinter cell scores better than MGS does consistantly and guess what.. They're able to pump out a better game more often than the 5 year cycle of mgs. And read the topic healine bud, it seems that you're the trolling one here. bluntiss
Errr... Wrong.
MGS1 - 8.5
MGS2 - 9.6
MGS3 - 8.7 / Substinence - 9.0
MGS: PO - 9.0
-------------------
SC - 8.6
SCPT - 9.1
SCCT - 8.6
SCDA - 8.5
-----------------------------------
MGS overall scores better then SC. I love both series, different flavors but if I had to choose. MGS wins by about 'infinite light years'.
You opinion is as valued as all others but spewing wrongful facts with out reseach is not taken kindly.
[QUOTE="shalashaska88"][QUOTE="aalsheh"][QUOTE="Ra-Devil"]I'll come out and say it first, but I'm a 360 owner. That's not to say I didn't love Metal Gear Solid. When I played that game, all I could ever say was "wow...." back in the day, all there was to choose from was the Sega Saturn and the Sony Playstation. I'm not including the Nintendo 64 because self respecting gamer at the time would pay that much for a console then pay $70 for new games... when you could get better games for much, much cheaper (funny how Nintendo's now taking the opposite approach).
I loved the Saturn, but then my father told me about MGS. I played it, paused for a moment about 2 hours into the game, and just went down stairs in awe. This was probably the most revolutionary game I had ever played. Everything seemed so real. The gameplay gimmicks were great, like when Psycho Mantis makes it so the controler has to be plugged into slot 2, and you didn't know until 5 minutes of hitting buttons on the controler, on the remote to your TV, and flipping cords around on the TV. My uncle just got up and switched Controller ports, then it worked. We almost laughed ourselves to death in amazement. The next truly inspiring game I played after that was Halo. I never picked up the PS2 because I didn't have the money at the time, and because I wasn't a Tekken, Madden or Fire Works freek (that's a Fantasiavision or whatnot reference). When I had the money, I was getting ready to buy a PS2, then I went over to my uncles to spend the evening with him, expecting to find a PS2 to test drive. We ended up playing Halo for the next 7 hours... anyway, I got a PS2 the next christmas (it was a gag gift believe it or not). The games I got were Armored Core 2, Maximo, and Metal Gear Solid 2. I played MGS2 for the next 10 straight hours, then came to an amazing realization... it was the same game. The same game I played on the original Playstation, only with nicer graphics, and one new gameplay element, the first person view. I was stunned when I first realized it, because it was still so much fun. When MGS 3 came out, my friend bought it, then loaned it to me the next week. I found myself bored. It was yet another MGS, with a few new fangled elements, but it was just too similar. I had gotten used to the gritty, funny, and stealthier Splinter Cell. I almost wanted to play through the game, but walked away, only thinking about what a shame it was that such a classic game hadn't evolved at all. Aside from healing myself, weapons were all the same, the way you used them was the same, the stealth elements hadn't changed at all, it just got boring. I asked my friend what he still saw in it, and why he played MGS 3 more than one time through. He said he liked the characters and the story. He said it was like watching anime, except more mature and grittier. I thought about that. It was true. The game was very much Splinter Cell, in a simpler, manga form. In my eyes though, that didn't constitute a good game. I should be wowed by a new installment, I should be having as much fun as I had with the previous installments. Metal Gear just seemed to age rapidly. Splinter Cell got old too, so I pretty much stopped playing stealth action games.
I'm not going to buy it because it's called Metal Gear. That's not really being a gamer. I'll try it, an honest to goodness shot, but I wouldn't put money on it unless I really did like it. If it's a prettier version of the game I already know, I'm sorry, it's just not going to happen. Why do I like Halo? The weapons, the vehicles, the AI, I mean, when I get flanked by an enemy that I didn't notice was there, and they didn't yell out "I'm gonna' flank them!" like in Gears and FEAR, then dammit, that's an awesome moment. It's the way the gameplay changed, became more balanced and fun that brought me back. I won't say I'm not a fanboy for getting Halo 3, I just have high expectations that I hope will be met, but MGS seems slow when compared to the rapid growth in AI and gameplay environments and elements that were presented in MGS 2 and 3. Hell, the same is true for God of War, and DMC 1 and 2. They didn't change, and they didn't get any more fun. DMC 3 rocked, but that's what developers have to do. Change the game up a bit. Adding a new character named Raiden isn't making the game any more revolutionary or fun. Making me play in the past in the wild isn't any more fun that infiltrating a base.
I hope one of you read that and understand where I'm coming from. I have very high expectations for this next generation of gaming. I don't want to play prettier versions of games I've already played, I want to play bigger, more in-depth and stunning games. Sorry MGS4, I won't buy you unless I say wow... and unless I pay the $600+ for a PS3 by then.

now metal gear is my best series out there (you can put RE there as will), but ill have to agree with you
now i had no problem with MGS2, i liked it very much back in the day, nd based on the story it was suppose to be exactly like MGS1... and i think Kojima pulled the biggest stunt in videogames history by showing in all the previews snake as the hero just to show up Raiden 15mins into the game :)
MGS3 really didnt do anything.... i really didnt like the charecters, not memrable at all like the previeus games. i mean u fight a boss, kill him, that's it... god, where is the story? where are the great charecter development... cant blame konami there though. they said they did that due to customers demands,, i really want to meet those idiots who demanded that bosses dont speak much anymore... I mean Raven, Vamp, Olga,,, OMG in comarisons to the jokes in 3...
although it did interduce the online play in MGS3S,, it really didnt do much...
many ppl hated MGS:TS when it came out, i really liked it... it really showed a new direction for the game in a prespictive where u know from the start that Snake and liquid are brothers, which wasnt there in the original
in the end, yeah, id say i was a tad dissapointed about mgs3, but im sure as hell gonna buy 4, simple as that
and ohh,, i HATE Halo (not cause i hate halo the game, cause i hate FPS in general)... and i never really liked SC
What are you saying? MGS3 had one of the best storylines, and a real tear jerker ending. better than the overmelodramatic Sons of Liberty. Characater development? Eva was nice. Ocelot's betrayal was awesome, as we would've expected from his triple crossing behavior. and the game introduced one of the series' most memorable characters, The Boss herself. She commanded respect.
Wait, from your post, id say you havent even finished the game, or even played it.
One of the best storylines without question. GREAT ending. As far as character devlopment, the focus of the story was on Boss and Snake thats why there was less focus on the "mini boss's" character development. It was about the training if a legend. Big Boss. Besides what about watching Ocelot grow into "Ocelot Revolver", that was a perfect example of some deep character development.
that is true,, the boss and snake development was cool... and ocelot did have a good story too.. and btw, not only did i play mgs3 i own all of them. like i said it's one of my best series of all time
but lets face it, the other cobra members were jokes (simply put). even Ryan said in his blog that Kojima had to cut their chat and story because some (idiot) fans were complaining about the long story. i mean honestly, the pain, the fear, the end and the fury? great charecters (as fighting them) but when it comes to story, it was nothing
i mean look at Vamp, everyone expecting him to show up now. Raven? he's hunting snake till 4. fortune, olga, sniper wolf.. all great storys...
i cant say that the ending was really awsome, to me it's only second to MGS2 ending. and the only reason MGS2 ending was good is cause we dont know what happened till this day...
Not planning on it. Of course, even the best laid plans sometimes go astray...mjw1970true. took me 2 weeks to finally get my MGOnline to work after its release.
What self respecting PS3 owner here is NOT getting MGS4, cause if you not then all of us might just have to jump you.
samleon05
I'm with you! SOMEONE GET THE PICK UP AND THE BANJO! WE'S GONNA GIT EM
Metal Gear is my game man!!!! I finished all three MGS games both for the ps1 and ps2 and i am never gonna miss MGS4!!! These are the best games to ever come out of any console(in my opinion).
well this is just me and im pretty sure theres a few who will agree or did it cuz of the same reason, i bought my ps3 for MGS4 alone cuz im a big fan of metal gear, just recently i got my metal gear 1 through 3 out playin all of them again just to kill time to get to mgs 4, kinda forgot some infos lol, i mean yea im lookin for other games too that are being released but mgs4 oh man i wish i hada copy rite now i dont care if the game is finished or not lol just to see wat konami has to offer lolJoKeR_421
Well MGS4 was one of the major reasons, but not the SOLE reason. MGS4 is in the top 5 reasons for me.

yea i know wat u mean, damnit talkin about it makes me want it even more *my precious* mine all MINE muahahahhahahaha lol j.k
i'm getting it, why miss out on what could be the series finally. IMO people who say that mgs is gay because i has to many cut sence are just stupid. I think that many games should and already have influence from all mgs games, its like a movie or like reading a book with a great story, great characters, great atmosphare and mood but the only difference is that you play it and the game play is nothing short from amazing.
thats why i don't understand why gear of war is so popular imo i hate it, it has a horrible plot with horrible characters and the gameplay is not revolutionary, but its good (i'll give it that) The only reason gears was so hyped (over hyped) was because the graphics are amazing, and thats pretty sad IMO. Like poeple over hyping games like uncharted and heavenly sword just because graphicly are amazing, but if your going gameplay wise uncharted looks okay, and heavenly sword looks like GOW (imo i don't think GOW that great, since i don't like the whole "quick time" button mashing but other people have other opinions) But if your going from a plot perspective (witch alot of you most likly aren't) they both look promising, its all a matter of opinion and how the plot stucture is set up and i'm sure HS will do fine there, uncharted looks alright to.
See for me its not only about graphics and gameplay, its about everything from the plot, to characters, to architicure, to mood, atmosphare, to script (very important, especially in all mgs games) , to gameplay, and then finally at last graphics. I know graphics are important for next gen, but it doens't make a game.
