I was at a store yesterday and they had a demonstration 3DTV. I have to say it was pretty sweet. The actual movies they were showing were no big deal but then they showed Motorstorm Apocalypse in 3D and goddamn it was nice. Very immersive. I figured that it would be kind of gimmicky and the 3D would look off but I was wrong - it was done splendidly. I also know they drop the res during 3D but it still looked perfectly fine and I would definitely rather play in 3D at a sacrifice of a slightly lower resolution than at 2D at a slightly higher resolution.

I can't wait to get myself one of those 3DTVs! If any of you here have it, you're very lucky! I'd imagine if you have one of those you might also have a 3D monitor set-up with your fancy-pants PC. Again, very lucky!

Whilst I don't have a 3D television set, I have extensively played on one at a friends house. Personally, I find it no more than a useless gimmick. The severe decrease in graphical quality as well as the rampant frame rate issues in each of games I played made me realize that 3D gaming on a console is still atleast a generation off.

But PC 3D is right here now. Even then I still don't understand why somebody would want to take a performance hit like that though. . 3D would keep me from my marathons.

That is exactly why I specified consoles. The nVidia 3D destroys anything the PS3 will ever be able to produce.

i have 3dtv and have played a couple of games in 3d. the sly cooper collection is a great collection of games the 3d is bad in it since most of the game is dark it makes it hard to see. COD blops is 3d and actually fun in 3d but the game always crashes in mp so i dont play it often. Ive played gt5 in 3d its very subtle but you can really see depth in it sometimes it feels like my tv is a mile deep but sometimes i get really horrible ghost images. Motorstorm is fun but the new one comes out in a couple months so maybe wait for that. killzone 3 also comes out on the 22nd so ill have to find out about that later. If you have a 3d tv i strongly suggest you get dispicable me not only is it funny but the 3d is shockingly good at my house. Plus The Lion King is going to be re-released on blu ray in 3d this year. I understand how some people can say its gimmicky but isnt everything like that. I remember people telling me that the internet and cell plhones where gimmicky and look where they are no. Most people will just hate on you for the fact you have a sweet tv and they dont.

I just bought a 3D plasma tv. The 3d is very nice. I have been playing GT5, Wipeout and the Motorstorm demo all day. I cant wait for Killzone 3. Yeah, the resolution drop is not too bad, the 3D kind of makes up for that, the image is crisp and clear and the depth is just amazing. I had a mouth open moment when playing GT5 with the in the car view, the weather changed and the windshield wipers come on, pushing the rain off the windshield. Its like you are there. You have space inside the car, and then you can look beyond the windshield and far down the road, and you can judge distance between all the break lights from the other cars ahead of you, with water spray flicking at you as you maneuver behind them. I will definitely enjoy gaming in 3D more than watching movies.

Meh, I have a 3DTV because it was on sale for $1300 off and I got it for the 2D picture quality (which is awesome for how much I got it for).

And it's nothing special. I downloaded the free demos SONY gave me and also got Wipeout HD in 3D... honestly I think it's just annoying wearing those abnormally large glasses. I'll look into 3D more once the tech gets good enough.

i just got a samsung 3d tv last saturday and it is great. sly workded well as did 2k11, ssdhd and tumble demo made me consider buying the game. 3d is awesome but it will have an uphill battle into the hearts of the public as did the internet, hd and bluray. in 2014 it will be common but if you do not have bluray and 3d join in, it rocks.

I haven't played any games in 3d yet but man it just doesn't feel right with the movies I've seen with it. Won't be buying a 3d tv any time soon.

Agreed. HD is enough for me, and I'm plenty happy with that. There's something that doesn't sit well with me about this whole new 3D craze. I'm no expert, but I wouldn't be surprised if 10 years from now they find out that it does something to your brain. Not saying it's going to make you go crazy or something like that, but there are already plenty of studies that talk about how young kids who are hardcore gamers end up with social problems later on in life, imagine how bad it'd be with 3d gaming out now.

i do enjoy playing in 3-d, it is definitely not a must at the moment but it is fun and interesting addition, i realized that i lean left and right in turns while playing gt5, wipeout is fun, the 3-d effect in blops has been implemented at the last moment, but it is quite good, half of the time i die because i am checking out the depth of field effect while aiming down the sight and plain looking at the gun, the cross-hair does distract you a bit though, but i play in hardcore mode anyways, so it is non-existent... :) the games i played in 3-d were all in 720p and the graphics were quite ok, if not the same as in 2-d in some games (gt5 runs natively in 1080p in 2-d, that was the only difference if i am not mistaken)... i am definitely hyped about kz3, i'll download the demo as soon as it is online... as said before, it is not a must at the moment, but fun and plus i do buy quite a few bluray movies and the 3-d movies are ok as well... most probably it will be a standard part of gaming in the coming years... (btw, if you get a recent sony bravia tv, you can use the remote to control the ps3 via bravia sync or whatever, which is quite handy if you like to watch movies a lot, or plain browse the store)... :)

I have no interest in 3D gaming, same goes for movies, I rather watch the non 3D versions. It was fun the first time but then it gets old really fast

3d is way overrated. it should be left to imax and disney world attractions. its crazy to think that extended playin in 3d isnt going to effect ur eyes. My PC is in 3d and i have some games like Batman AA in 3d, and as cool as the new 3ds may be, im not getting it for 3d but for the awesome 1st paty nintendo games.

3D is fun and cool but after gaming for several hours your eyes hurt insanely bad. Wait till its perfected. Don't but a 3D tv yet.
