Spacemen or actually people from the future and are here to gradually introduce us to technologies far superior than we can reach :p? Seriously now, the ps3 is a wonderful piece of technology, it has everything you would ever want.I like how Sony thinks andI know that things started slow this generation but I do love the quality not the quantity of games introduced and I honestly believe that eventually the ps3 will be better than the ps2. I think microsoft should focus on original IPs as well because this will make us gamers very satisfied, Thoughts?

I hate to break it to you, but a lot of the technology in the PS3 was developed in America. :P

Err... I'm not sure, but I don't think the majority of Sony America workers are Japanese.

Regardless, I was referring to IBM, who codeveloped the Cell Processor. And to the fine people at Nvidia, who made the RSX graphics processor.

You know...I feel the same exact way. They could've really had a chance to flex the muscle of the Cell and Blu-Ray if they made it 512/512 MB instead of 256/256. That would've greatly increased the power over the X360.

It was a cost thing though wasn't it?

Anyways I think in many ways the two next gen consoles had learned lessons from their opponent's last gen consoles. The xbox was a bulky expensive(yet powerful) fps machine. The ps3 seems to be catering more to that audience now. The ps2 was a cheap streamlined console with a wide range of games(although not all of them good). The 360 is trying to cater to the ps2 audience.

Yeah I am driving a mazda and loving it. About people complaining about RAM, come on it's not a pc it's a 2 year old console. It has the ablility to play movies (Blu ray- DVDs- Divx ... etc) with 7.1 audio support, HD output up to 1080p, wi-fi internet (yes it's not the best browser but you can still do a lot of things on it like youtube for example), moderate HDD drive which I don't think i'm going to need more than the 60 provided and either way they gave you the option to change it, bluetooth, motion sensor controllers (not as precise as the wii but still i find it better than the casual things nintendo bring to the table but it's just opinions not starting a flame war here). Consider it the ultimate home entertainment machine not just a gaming console, and it had all that 2 years ago. Even now most of blu ray players are still much more expensive than the ps3.

ITT: weaboos

1- most of the parts in the ps3 are made in america. iirc the blu ray drive in ps3s are manufactured in korea.

2- japan only has high speed internet all over the country because of how small it is. it would be very costly for ISPs to set up fiber optics all over america, hell, 50% of us are still stuck using dial-up because of this.

imo japan is a really creepy place. they freaking have **** (4 letter word for nonconsentual sex) games for christ sake.

256 mb isn't so bad when its XDR RAM operating at 3.2 Ghz! That's a bandwidth of 25.6 GBs per second. You may as well say that's like 4.5 sticks of ram that run @ 700 mhz. That would be 1 gb and then some. And that doesn't include the 256 mb VRAM that does run at 700 mhz. PS3 has muscle. It's flexing. Don't let the little numbers fool you.

Well everyone has their faults and strengths. For example, America is pretty lame for the most part compared to Japan, however I believe Apple is the most innovative company out there. A lot of what we hear from Japan is amazing, and its true they are smart. However there are the companies that make crap there, just like the companies here that do the same *cough* microsoft... lol jk dont want to offend anyone

I must say I agree that the Japanese are smart people who are very heavily focused on advancements in technology and are very successful most times with such, however...... Haven't any of you heard of Silicone Valley? IBM, Macintosh (Apple), AMD/ATI, Intel, and Microsoft are all american based companies that have developed software and hardware technologies without which most japanese products (including the PS3) would not even exist. A lot of the PS3 components were developed here in the US (IBM's Cell Processor). Heck even lots of Japanese car manufacturers have their vehicles engineered her in the US. Toyota does a lot of this. Nissan not only had the Titan engineered here its also manufactured here, so other than the japanese name its an American vehicle. Anyway, my point is this: Japan does great things for technology..... on the backs of great American inventors and engineers.

And you know, I think that's where Japan's technology has really excelled. They are really good at taking a current technology and shrinking the hell out of it. Heck, look at our TVs :). I'm just saying that they didn't come up with all of this on their own. As far as their cars go: Yes, they are far more efficient. Even more so in Japan, because they have higher fuel and emission standards that more than double our own. But that doesn't change the fact that they sent a list of those standards and what they wanted out of a vehicle to some American dudes in California who actually designed and engineered the vehicle. Of course, this isn't the case for all their vehicles, just a good portion of them; especially the trucks. I love thier women, though!

I support whichever place that has people who come up with ideas like selling panties in vending machines.

http://inventorspot.com/files/images/panty-vending-machine.img_assist_custom.jpg

Edit: ok I take that back, it turned out that they also have "used" panties in there. However we're here about the technology, anyone saw the new Samsung LED LCD TVs? they're gorgeous.
