WHo thinks the ps3 even needs 3d?I dont, think about it, it supports 1080 and how many games even use this feature. from what Ive read in japan they are going to make the games that are 1080 into 3d. For EG... stardust, wipeout hd, pain. Dont get me wrong these are not bad games, whoo hoo they are 1080, who cares they are arcade games. now they want us to sling shot in 3d, just not worth it to me

I have watched a 3D film on a Samsung 3D TV, not just at the cinema and I must say it looks great. So why not make games 3D? After all 3D is the future of TV, movies and games, even if most people can't afford the technology right now it is still worth making games for people that can in my opinion. Also it will help to improve 3D gaming in the future.

It's because the common folk love 3D and whatever the common folk like the common folk get. Sorry if I offended any common folk.

I've watched three 3D movies on the Samsung and LG TV... none of which were one bit impressive.

thats my point, there going to put millions of $$$ to half way do it, like 1080 the system will support it then the games will not. I enjoy my ps3 but the system may be ahead of the developers, now they are going 3d. so are the developers supposed to go from 720 to 3d

I place this 3D technology under the "Kinda cool" category, but not the "Necessary" category.

I demoed the Samsung 3D Television (with glasses) and to be honest I couldn't even see anything 3D.

I could barely see any difference and if anything the glasses made the image blurry and lessened my experience from if I were just watching a 1080P HD TV source directly. The blur wasn't like the red/blue glasses, but it still annoyed me to put on glasses. I would describe it more as a "tint" becuase the glasses have a slight tint to them. Like I had to watch the show through a slight haze to get the supposed 3D effect.

So in short, I think this whole endeavor for 3D on PS3 is a giant waste. I want no part of it.

If I had a 3DTV then I porbably would be quite excited, but considering I'm not gonig to have one of those for around hyperbollion years, I could not care less.

I find the idea of wearing 3D glasses in my home quite weird. 3D movies make me feel weird (I have real issues trying to focus) and I couldn't even comprehend that on the small screen. IMHO 3D TV with glasses is a fad, wake me up when we have holographic TV.

I think it's a stupid idea. But then again, I can't watch 3D things because I'm blind in one of my eyes lol. But even if I wasn't, I don't think it'd work to be honest. It'd be too distracting for me anyways.

3D is just a technology that's been around for a long time buy now is being pushed as a new form of a way to view all media in the future.

Well... i'm somewhat addicted to technology which is why I surely replace my (full HD) Tv with a 3D model (not just for the 3D alone, I got an early full HD Tv and it shows it's flaws when it comes to upscaling the Tv signal and it sadly hasn't a dvb-c tuner to get the digital channels and I don't feel like buying a receiver/recorder xD). I'm on of the few who can really get into the technology, no matter if it's a movie or a game xD

Oh and btw the whole "3D is nothing new" arguments are just weak - 3D to day is nothing like 3D before. There's a huge difference between colored glasses on a crappy image and an actual HD image without any colorfilters :S It's like saying I don't need a PS3 because games/gamesystem were around for a long time >__>

3D will inevitably be a focus in the future; it's not going anywhere. By doing this now, Sony has patents, and "I did it first" rights. When Microsoft adds 3D support to the next-box, they'll be following sony. It seems stupid now but in a few years we'll see that it was a fantastic choice.

I rather spend the money on something like look better and real. Maybe like superHiDef with a trillions of colors. 3D make my eyes hurt and give me headaches. Plus it doesn't look real or detail enough. I think this 3D thing is waste of money. Also the graphic on the ps3 starting look dull and boring.

I watched a movie on 3d at my local electronics store and it was a big dissapoinment, i m not planning to upgrate to a 3d anytime as the 3d contenet is crappy. With that said i honestly dont care about 3d on my games, but i wished sony would ve wasted the time on something more important than 3d gaming.

Considering how most games on the ps3 are running framerate locked at 25~30fps now, I'd hate to imagine how badly taxed framerate will be for this 3D crap that requires glasses. I might be more interested if it didn't require glasses... but the only TV's that currently can do that are about as limited on their 3D effect as circa 1990 LCD panels were for viewing angle and color accuracy. Safe to say, I think it wouild be better if games could routinely have better framerate on the consoles before we start expecting 3D displays out of them.

better spend their money on something else

1) first I find approximative to want 3D on a screen that is of course 2D, the human eye already barely sees 3D, even Avatar and Alice only used 3D in some scenes but not all movie, you had to wear heavy glasses, the effects themselves were not that groundbreaking ...

2) there is an eye problem called "convergence deficiency", it means the eyes are not well aligned, and as the 3D effect uses 2 images that have a slight gap, the eye doesn't put the images back together and quite often it gives some blur instead of the 3D image ; most people don't know they have it as the only problem you have is when you read your eyes tire fast and you feel sleepy ; I had this once and the Doctor said about 1/3 of people have it and don't know it

3D is cool and all, but they should have waited before it was more mainstream for 3D tvs. It is great for the people to have them, but they are pretty expensive last time I checked. To me, as of right now, it is a gimmick.

What I don't get is what's needed to use it. My dad has a 120hz samsung, but I can't seem to find out what else would be required to use this technology, which I am actually pretty stoked about. What can I say? I'm into novelty.

If it's free via system update and if it's optional to use in the games that support it, then I'm cool with it.

i don't care. It's not like Sony's implementation of 3D technology will force all consumers to purchase 3D-enabled HDTVs. Let Sony experiment all it wants. Regardless of whether the implementation of 3D will revolutionize the entire gaming industry in the future, it does not affect my 2D gaming in the mean time (and probably, for a long time).

I don't think that the PS3 needs the 3D technology. I mean they already have 1080P. They should try to urge more developers to make 1080p games because I feel like a majority of the PS3 games out now are only in 720P. Finish one thing before you start another Sony. I don't really think the 3D gaming will catch on as quickly as they would like. I mean, eventually it might catch on but just not as well as they like. I don't know if we (as gamers) are ready for 3D technology.

I think I care more about getting a new feature than I do about whether or not some of yall aren't going to use it or think the ps3 doesn't need it lol. Geez, one day everyone is up in arms about Linux being dropped, now everyone is up in arms about a new feature being added. I'm just glad Sony runs the show and don't listen to us on SW at all, or else they would go crazy trying to figure which way their business needs to go.

i clicked on sounds cool because it is....but at the same time the price is way too high and people who have just bought a HDTV might not want to suddenly want to fork out on yet another tv.

Movies, okay with me. But games? Argh. More eyestrain, make our vision worse, and 3D glasses on top of that. It's even worse for people who already wear glasses. It's way too gimmicky and needless. As long as it's optional, I could care less about 3D.
