That is revolver ocelot , he was in the oringal metal gear solid, he had his hand chopped off by the cyborg ninja in MGS1 and had it replaced with Liquid snakes hand in MGS2 by surgical means. the hand still has liquid snake inside it, and now ocelot is possessed by Liquid snake.

Raiden is Solid Snakes mum, HE gave birth to solid snake at the end of MGS1 right after solid snake destroyed the JLA and did the romance dance with Revolver Ocelot

Unfortunately, MGS storyline is confusing. If you can't play the games, there's no way you'll ever going to understand everything.
well in mgs2, you play as raiden instead of snake for the majority of the game, everybody thought he sucked, he just wasnt as cool as snake. but now in the new trailer, raiden looks like he grown himself some balls, he looks ace.
The cyborg ninja from mgs 1 is Gray fox, gray fox was snak'es old war buddy in the orignal Metal gears, he is also in MGS:PO
he died in metal gear solid 1 while aiding snake in the destruction of Metal gear rex

liquid snake and soild snake are both clones of big boss, big boss is the original snake (mgs3 (aka eyepatch snake)) , mgs1 & mgs2 your playing as clone snake, is raiden a clone of big boss? no one knows. Mgs4 your playing as clone snake cause snakes age has been accellerated by the cloning process , or maybe cause of foxdie, story still confusing as hell.
raiden is a dude. A dude that you play as in mgs2. And at one point you have to run around naked with only his hands covering his snake. He is good but a cry baby.
tho' Raiden was supposed to be a girl (officially stated)
and yeah Raiden was, and still is, a crying little wuss.. and now he went (as you people call it) Emo.. (since alot of people like to call people that whines alot Emo's... never understood why you would wanna look dumb by calling them Emotional Music.. oh well) ..
The old guys is Ocelot/Liquid, who is the "bad" guy (i actually like what he's fighting for) who has to be killed by Snake (the old dude falling to the ground having a heart attack) and then the Ninja is Raiden who no one likes because he was a whimp in MGS2 and then the guy in MGS3 (can't remember the name) was ALSO a whimp... and the woman with red hair is Meryl, Otacon is in the little Metal Gear.. and the soldiers wearing ski-masks are just dumb since it's hot and they wear ski-masks.. Morons
