I do but my sound runs through optical to my surround unit. I have always been a big fan of the optical sound performance compared to the others, but thats just me.swatpup102Same here.
I'm another HDMI-DVI user. 780p is looking sweeeet on my LG 22" widescreen LCD. People that don't own HDTV's, of which there are many, often make the mistake of buying an LCD monitor without HDCP. With HDCP, not only can you get an awesome computer monitor but it can also double as an HDTV or instant HD for your PS3. And you can get an HDMI-DVI cablefor cheap.
In fact, not only does my 780p seem to look as good as many other HD setups (780 or 1080), but my sound is even better than what many users get when hooked up to an HDTV. I use my AV cable to run sound through my X-FI Xtremegamer sound card and I get simply amazing PS3 sound whether through my 5.1 speakers or my expensive PCX-250 headphones as I can use all my sound card features on ps3 games, such as the crystalizer and tons of other features/settings.
I can't believe some HD consoles don't have the HDMI, such as some 360 models, the Wii? The bluray and HDMI are just two more reasons that the PS3 will continue to rise as months and years pass. Won't be that long before 360 users will be dying for a PS3. With the PS3's capabilities not even close to being fully used by games yet, we are in store for some amazing gaming in the future. While the 360 needs to squeeze games on dl-dvd and some users need to use component cables, us PS3 users as time passes will be sitting happily playing 50gb or 100gb bluray discs with our HDMI hookups! Yup, our PS3, unlike other technology, will only get better with age, just like fine wine. Can't wait until all the 360 losers who fed me lies in order to convince me to buy a 360 and think it was better than the PS3 start regretting their purchase. Those will be good days!
I never had any interest getting a HDTV, then I got a PS3...let's just say two weeks later and I have a sweet Sharp 42" 1080P LCD telly that just arrived Saturday (HDMI of course), it is so amazing.
I'm going to have a hard time resisting buying blu ray's now, just to add to my game and DVD fetish (atleast I can just download music for freenow..thank god)
HDMI is so much better then the composite cables and I have myn hooked up. You should have yours too!

dam right
I thought component cables weren't all that different from HDMI setups. Have you guys even tried component cables?ATLReppa770
I got a 37 inch hd tv, and I recently bought the hdmi cables $40 with gold plated connectors. I have theps3 set to what my tv supports etc, picture looks great. Just wondering when i start a game up or movie on the system my tv shows no signal for like 2 seconds then the game or movie loads up with the picture. Is it normal for that to happen?Cause I know the audio and video are synched up, just wondering if those 2 seconds are it synching up. Little worried cause I don't want to mess my tv up, thanks in advance for any replies letting me know about this.Lost_forgotten
No its perfectly normal, many tvs do that to sync or change the resolution. My tv does that aswell, nothing to be worried about here. Just changing resolutions switching between them.
i do but i have a question. does anyones PS3 drop the sound from time to time cuz mine does? Could it be cuz of my HDMI cable?TOTAL_DEFENSE_0
Mine does drop, but it also pops really loud sometimes. The screen, after the PS3 logo, gets staticy for a second then the game loads. Anyone else have this?? I'm using a Sony branded HDMI cable too.

And you win the award of screwed consumer. All HDMI cables are the same. There could be a break in the cable for the guy above having sound issues, but assuming the cable isn't broken they are all the same. So spend 10-15 bucks at bluejeans cable or monoprice.
Person with sound issue - have you tried changing your hdmi sound settings to make sure they match what the tv can do??
U must be smoking some good ganja cake home boy. My tv is hdmi 1.3 and runs at 120htz and only monster hdmi 1000 feeds me that.
Great that you have a nice tv - I have had my HDTV for five years and besides all discussions here and other places agreeing with me I simply know that I know more than you on the subject. Do a little reaserch and you will find that you wasted money following the advise of a Best Buy employee... Kind of like gamespot employees saying MGS4 is coming to the xbox :)
Don't feel to bad - I did the same mistake with my first cable - at least that was a component so you can argue the difference....
LOL Funny I work for best buy. so lets compare my XBR4 to ur 5 year old TV with my cable and ur cable.
No my point is that I have had hdtv for five years - on the third one now. The only funny thing is how I called that had BB information leading to your purchase and belief in cable - amazingly weird or it is just well known that when it comes to monster cables there is a HUGE markup so BB pushes them extremely hard apparently to the point of misinforming their sales personel.
For those of you with DVI - as pointed out by some as long as your tv (monitor) is hdcp compliant you are good for the future. No picture difference only difference is not running the sound through.
