This happened with PSOne to PS2, and from PS2 to PS3.
This isn't a surprise for longtime gamers...it's how it is. Think of why. There are a LOT of PS3's finally sold, and these games cost a lot of money to make.
It just proves that the ps3 is still a great system. Still releasing amazing games even at the end of its cycle. I bet people are still buying ps3's to this day for these games.
I wonder how many people that don't have a ps3, will buy one just to play GTA V in september.
Im still going to buy GTA V, Beyond two souls, Splinter cell blacklist, Batman Arkham Orgins, and fifa 14 before next gen.
Watch dogs, Need for speed rivals, Battlefield 4, AC Black flag, ill probably hold out and buy them for ps4.
Why not take advantage of your system when the most sold are currently out there? Plus, not everyone is going to jump right to PS4 so this gives everyone a lot to play for a good amount of time. I'd rather have this than an entire 2013 without a new PS3 game, especially since their exclusives are all usually very good, so it's not like we're getting a rushed or bad product.
Because PS3 is the best console ever released, much better than paying for online features on PS4, certainly better in every aspect than Xbox One, and better than 360 for the same reason as PS4, graphics and overall was better than PS2, and PSP or PSV don't have a thing on the PS3.
TC wasn't saying they should release those games before ps4 comes out this year. He's questioning why they weren't developed for the ps4 in the first place, and released when the console comes out. You are correct though, ps3 has a lager install base than the ps4 will around launch.
Because there's 77.5 million PS3s out & no one owns a PS4. You can't sell a game to no one & make money. PS4 isn't out.Â

It's also because of the time development took for these games. At least 3 years for each, it would take more time to create a new engine and developing them again. Porting is not so great most of the times, depends if the studio wants to remake a great game or just put the HD in the name for a quick cash-in.
It's been Sony's business model from the beginning of the PS. Just because they are releasing a new system does not mean that they are going to abandon support of their old hardware.
If it wasn't for the PS4 being so cheap I probably wouldn't be getting one at launch because there are still some great tittle being released for the current system!:)
