I hate every sport game that has ever been released, from ATARI to present. Worst yet, the only thing that seems to have improved over all that time is the graphics, not gameplay. "Get the ball, move it here, done." I thought that since it's more expensive to make games for the PS3, all the stupid sports games would DIE! However, they keep dishing them out, and EA is still getting money.

Do you think sports games should just die, or do you like buying recycled sports games?

If you don't like sports games then don't worry about them. Not like anyone is forcing you to buy or play those games.

And how do you expect sports games change gameplay wise?

"What the hell NBA 2K8 is so gay its the same as NBA 2K, all you do is shoot or dunk the ball into a hoop and you have to do it more than the other team to win"

What the hell did you think would happen? Robots would be playing ninjas in a mix of basketball and american football?

They do need to die...Honestly, there is a reason why places like Gamestop don't accept sports games as trade-ins. They would have hundreds of copies, of crap no one wants 1 month later...

I personally think that they should release one sports game to last players for about 3-5 years with online roster updates, then release a sequel after building it from the ground up. Especially with EA who keeps releasing the same old sports game for 4 years with just updated rosters, soundtrack, and 1 or 2 more features.

EA is a major Sports game company. If they put less money in Cr@qqY sports games, and put that time and money into more games like Army of Two. Army of Two looks like it will sell well also. And they need to make more original games like them, instead of rehashing old s#!t.

Also, I've played sports games, but have yet to buy one.

Sports and/or EA won't stop until innovation has been killed by them completely. So far's it's working. Just look at the sales on Shadows of the Colossus and ICO.

This is exactly what I've been saying. Put out a new game at the begginning of each console's life cycle and then again after a 3 or 4 years, with annual patches in between with updated rosters, stats, soundtracks, whatever. They could charge about 15 for the update. Better than releasing the same game every year for 60 bucks each time. Well, better for players, not for EA...

I agree, it's nice for a game to mix it up every once in a while, any ever play Red Card on the PS2?
Now that was awesome.

The thing is sports teams don't really want to sign their club to a game that not realistic to the sport, but everyone wants to play as their favourite sport's team.

I'm not really bashing sports games, even though I don't care for them. I'm just saying there's no reason that they should make their fans buy the same game for $60 every year. As a fan, would you not prefer to buy the game every few years and then just get downloadable updates every year? And now that online playing is such a big deal, you don't really even have the option of NOT buying it every year, since as soon as the 09 comes out noone will be playing the 08 anymore.

Seriously if you dont like sports game dont buy em. Why they keep making shooters? Its almost always some dude with a gun walking around against great odds in a post apocolyptic world vs aliens or zombies or some evil corporation walking around shooting stuff..... isnt that recycled material. The reason they keep making em is because people buy them and enjoy playing them, simple as that.

i'm talking about the people who come on here and talk about how they're stupid. most people that like sports like sports games. i guess i'm just not down with the whole "if i dont like it then its stupid" mindset.

im going to assume that you don't like sports period ...........the reason why gameplay doesn't change is because the sport's in real life don't change there rules duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... or did you not know actual sports like the games exsist .....and plus there will always be fans willing to buy any game, so shut up and don't buy the games if you don't like em 8)

Worst yet, the only thing that seems to have improved over all that time is the graphics, not gameplay. "Get the ball, move it here, done." zatoninja

So...you're faulting a sports game for being exactly like the actual sport? There's only so ways to innovate shooting a basketball, my friend...

By the TCs original logic, the Shooters genre should die too. All you do is Go there, kill people, go further. Doesn't stop a ton of people from loving them. And in case you haven't noticed, sports games usually sell fairly well.

By TC logic. Enter Symphonycometh's logic!:P :

A lot of shooters...shoot things...only one has a creepy little girl...only one has you choose right and wrong with Bioshock, only one can fuse itself with an RPG (Mass Effect).

Sports....sports....well...I'd go outside and play first.

We are all now dumber from reading this. Sports games will never die and a lot of them (depending of placement in the world like football in USA to soccer in ENG) are among the best sellers. why should they stop making them; oh ya because you don't like them. They'll get right on that for you. Also whether you like it or not, sports titles are the deepest and longest games out on the market with the 30yr careers and such not to much they have the most "replay" value of any game. Again, even if we don't like it.

They actually have NO replay value. That's why when you try to trade them in, no game store will take them.

Every game store will take them and that is not replay value, that is resale value. Resale value drops fast because they know everyone is gonna buy the new game each year and since they know that, why give someone top dollar when it won't hurt sales 1 bit.

As far as replay value, how do you figure 30 seasons isn't replay value not to mention league play online. Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean the games suck and aren't worth the $. Just don't buy them. They won't even notice not getting your $60.

personally I love sports games, mostly hockey ones but I still love them, at first I would only buy them every 3-4 years, but I can see one BIG reason why they won't do it that way other then money, the fact that not everyone has online access on their consoles, I still don't have my PS3 hooked up online! So that would make it rather impossible to get roster updates for someone who can't acess online weather they have internet or not.

also they can be really good fun when there's nothing else to do, just because you hate sports games doesn't mean others do. Ok I'm done ranting, sorry for the wall of text.

Do you not like sports in real life either? Cause last time I checked, the objective is to move the ball to a point and done.

And why don't they die? Cause people play them:roll:
