[QUOTE="jeremiah06"] Ahh this is checkmate my unintelligent friend. The PS3 does not have the processor, graphics chip, or programming techniques that the xbox 360 has. All of which is required to play a specific game type. Don't believe me check out the hardware list of both systems you'll see that they are both different. Your mistake(very idiotic mistake) was that you assumed that a dvd player was all that required to play a 360 game and its just not the case. You lack the common sense that a 12 year old would have. makavelithedon2
Yeah, what he said. DVD players have the tech to play DVD's, but a 360 have different hardware insdie that allows it to play 360 games with a different internal make up then Wii and PS3. Wii can't play movies, but it can play games so yeah tech is more complex then you think.
yes but the ps3 has better if not samespecs:
xbox: 500mhz gpu ps3: 550 mhz gpu
xbox: 3.2 Gghz CPu ps3: 3.2 ghz Cpu etc.
the question is not why can't burger king sell a big mac, but why can't a larger more successful mcdonalds sell a big mac when a smaller mcdonalds franchise can
Those aren't the specs your looking for. The PS3 uses the cell processor and a nvidia graphics card while the 360 doesn't There for the nividia cant play a games that was designed using the ATI graphics card. Your referring to both the PS3 and 360 as Macdonalds when if fact the 360 may be Macdonalds but the PS3 is in fact burger king. So although burger king has the same ingredients(dvd player) as Macdonalds if they were to sell you a big mac Macdonalds would sue them for millions that just how American law works dont question it just obey.Ok, It's starting to seem like your just winding us up. But encase you're not, here is the simlest way I can explain it.
Xbox games are not like DVDs, as in DVD movies, in that an Xbox game is a program made up of ones and zeros.
The PS3's firmware has not been programmed to read the order of ones and zeros that Xbox games are made of.
Sony have not made the PS3 able to do this because they are legally not allowed to without Microsoft's permission.
Microsoft will not give Sony permission to do so because they want people to buy an Xbox to play Xbox games. They don't want people to buy PS3s to play Xbox games.
They don't want this because then nobody will buy Xboxes and they will lose money.
If you can't grasp these simple facts, you need help.

Now it would be hypothetically possibly for the burger king and mcdonlads franchisee to sell a big mac in burger king albeit illegal. However if burger kings allowed mcdonalds to serve the chicken royale what's the big problem, both companies (microsoft and sony) i beleive are making losses on the actual games console.
Both compaines use the same ingredientsbut make diffrent recipes, now if one company made a recipe identical to the others it wouldnt be illegal ifit was a genuine coincidence (howver far fetched the odds are- just being hypothetical) as the intellucutal property of the big mac hasn't been stolen.
Since when did this become about mcdonalds and burger king?
1. surely microsoft would want ps3 gamers to buy xbox 360 games as it would eventually phase out the ps3
2. this 'code' why can't the ps3 understand it is an xbox 360 game and bypass it
3. is there any proof to suggest this 'code' exists
4. why was the 'code' exist, it doesn't seem to serve any good
makavelithedon2
Ok, some more knowledge, you ready?
The code is basically the firmware. Firmware = a chip with software embedded. The firmware in both the 360 and PS3 (which allows games to launch) are patented by each company and using or altering is illeagle.
Now, to put this in perspective, Microsoft does not make all 360 games and they pay some people to only release a game on the 360 to sell the console and have more users to sell the games they accually make to. Sony also does this. It's not a matter can it be done its a matter of leagle issues and won't be done unless by homebrew, meaning hacks.
