why did Sony release a weaker GPU 4 PS3 than x360's GPU? X360 was released 1st.

awhole year, the time the x360 was released b4 the PS3, however Sony surprised us wz a weaker GPU and less RAM, i dun know how Sony didn't c that? the power of cell is undeniable, but really, what is the point if the GPU can't keep up wz it?????? actually i started this thread coz many gamres are saying that NGS2 will have a somehow downgraded graphics to fix all the slowdowns, and that's becoz the GPU is not as powerful as x360's GPU??????? technical replaies are recommended......... thanx

i honestly dont think xenon is better than rsx. i was a pc only gamer around that time and nvidia's stuff was absolutely killing ati's (starting with the release of the 6xxx series). and now people act like a overclocked 7800gtx was junk at the time of the ps3's release. i really believe the issue is with programing for the cell processor and the memory divide, not with the gpu's. and i think the evidence of that is in how great some of the 1st party sony titles look, and how poorsomeof the multi plats are.

they dont look much diff.. if you're looking for graphics, go for pc gaming. console gaming is not for you.

I believe people here are not concerning of the graphic, but the gameplay and more exclusivities.

I always believe ps3 could do more than just its comparison.

example killzone 2, mgs4 and uncharted

Why did SE try reassure ps3 users that final fantasy 11 graphic will not be downgraded due to 360 version? and why did EA try to tell us that red alert 3 would look much better on ps3?

They all have pros and cons.. but my point is.. forget about graphics man.. it's all about gameplay quality

then check out the difference between an x1800 and a 7800gtx. granted theres a lot we dont definitivly know about (how much of a forward design ati sold ms, how much of a difference the off loading of floating point calculations to the cell made in the 7800) but youll see theyre very comparable, and if anything the 7800gtx better considering the clock speeds.

The Cell works as part of the GPU and most dont understand that the cell with the RSX is stronger than the 360s GPU. You can have the strongest GPU in the world if you dont have the other key componets to maximize it its worthless. On paper the PS3 has twice the graphics processing power of the 360.djsifer01

Do you think it is just a matter of time before the PS3 begins putting out graphics that will eclipse the Xbox 360.

ps3 also has 512 ram but it split. 256 of it is faster tho

so the PS3 can play ninja gaiden 2 with no frame rate or slowdown problems, coz having 10 enemies on the screen wz blood everywhere can be very hard 2 handle!!!!!!!!!!, happy 2 hear that PS3 can handle it.

PS3 has greater graphical capabilites than the 360

this has been proven time and time again

I dont know alot about the technology but I know that the PS3's HDMI cable and Blu-ray discs are a distinct advantage over the 360

well i don't know all the technichal details, i mean look at all the system failures of the xbox360, some of that must be due to the heat that graphics card develops, sony used something tried and trusted(nvidia's graphics chip) and combined it with some thing new and tested(vell), where as microsoft tried something new and unstable for both!

Didn't sony realize that Developers would rather make sub-par graphic games and screw people out of $50+ with shovelware 3-6 hour games that are overhyped to death, than to spend time and money coding the game perfectly with the Cell?
