Besides games and Blu-Ray... Um... I don't have any other reasons to buy a System... Mabye Because it being there makes everything look cooler by comparison...
I actually was going to buy an Xbox 360 becuase basically everybody I knew had one, but I went with the Playstation because I'm familiar with the controller, the games are going to be great, online is actually pretty good considering it's free. i'm not that excited about the whole Blu-Ray thing, it just doens't impress me. PS3 rocks, though.
It had a bunch of stuff that I needed with it like wireless internet, HD format, media slots, and mostly, free online, i also like its games, and for all the stuff the PS3 comes with, the price is pretty cheap, and It's probably the best media center unless you want peer to peer programs, but yeah. For me, it was either a 600$ PC or PS3. So PS3.

I didn't really choose it. My dad surprised me with it two Christmas' ago. But I would've eventually got it anyway because I just like how powerful it is and I just thought it looked cool and shiny.
besides games....what made you get one....and hum...also besides Blu-Ray

I was interested in the console due to it being the most expensive one out of the 3 next gens. For I believe that you get what you pay for. In the december that past I got a HDTV a nice sony bravia and needed a bluray player. I saw what bluray players can do at the showroom and needed one. Being 16, the logical choice for me would be a PS3. It has intense gaming, strong graphics, and this time the most important feature well atleast to me a full bluray player. The 5 free bluray deal didnt hurt either.
Originally I bought a PS1 first gen. Then I chose xobox over ps2 next gen. I was always insanely jealous of all the great games that came out for PS2 ( mostly the RPGS ) so this time around I went PS3.
Also the controller > the 360 controller times infinity.
The wireless internet access is a huge plus for me as well as the online gaming being *free*
I have two friends with 360's that have RROD on them and that affected my decision alot as well.
Before buying a next generation console i looked up all the features, problems and games they had. I decided to go for the PS3 since i have PS2 i still play and it has a lot of games i wanna checked out, like Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Assassin's Creed and Soul Calibur 4.
Well aside from games and bluray, I chose the ps3 mainly because of the reliability, the sleek look of the console, and other features like free PSN and Wi-Fi, lets just say I trust Sony's hardware :).
Well Altho i like Halo and the 360's controller better. the PS3 was only $280 brand new for me so it was cheaper than an Xbox and It has no RRoD. Also i had a Wii and altho im going to miss SSBB (like seriously ache missing it) I think ill live (or buy one later when Wiis are actually in stores)
well i had a 360 until it died on me so i set to myself why am i going to buy another one i they keep dying wit the stupid ring of death, so i went 4 the system that dosent die! and i use to downlod a bunch of stuff on the marketplace along with the HD DVD player Microsoft is just a rip off fix ur broken hardware!(I STILL LIKE THE 360 THOUG,but i aint buying another one again!)and thats all gone so i just went with sony great deal though spiderman 3 on blu ray plus 5 other ones free! go sony!
Exclusives, Backward Compatibility and the fact that I buy everything. Bluray was not a big selling point for me as I already have an LG Superblu player for that.
a voice told me in my dreams that the PS3 has no comparison and that in the future nothing will ever match it, lol dude I just liked the PS3 better then anything else and did not have a problem using $850 for it
I always get the new playstations never been disappointed with ps1 or ps2 so I gave ps3 a try(very pleased). I was actually very close To getting a 360 this gen, good thing I didn't.:lol:
i have a 360 as well and a ps3 the reason is reliability to start with it just runs so much better then a 360. Has really great games with plenty of great ones still to come. it is much better value you dont nickel and dimed for everything like you do for a 360.
