Everybody is a troll to a fanboy.( If i'm a troll how come my PSN ID is in my sig?,hmmmmmm ).

emitsu97

In Internet terminology, a troll is someone who intentionally posts derogatory or otherwise inflammatory messages about sensitive topics in an established online community such as an online discussion forum to bait users into responding. Wikipedia

Nicely done.

Troll = TC

Inflammatory message = "I purchased an expensive HDMI cable so I'm better than you"

Goal? = Baiting others into responding so that he can criticize them.

Yeah, everything checks out.

You'd think the mods would close this rapdily festering argument thread already.

[QUOTE="bluegender"]And yet you didn't answer my question about why did you buy a PS3 then if money is such an issue?.mdl207

Who said money was an issue?

I purchased a PS3 because it was the system I wanted.

I purchased a $6 HDMI cable because it was the cable I wanted.

In the end, my system outputs the same gorgeous graphics as yours does.

And that's all that counts.

Calm down buddy,I don't want your blood pressure to go up.But what you just typed made no sense, you shouldn't have even brought a PS3 if you are just going to buy cheap add ons,but to each his own.BBL.

Who said anything about spending $100?.A Sony brand HDMI cable only cost $60.

Come on man if you can spend $600 plus tax on a system why not go all out?

bluegender
You bought the ps3 because you think it is the better and worth the money right..........Well if the $60 Sony cable isn't better than the cheaper one, then why spend the extra cash. I would rather take that money and put it towards a game vs wasting the extra doh for nothing extra.

Exactly.

What's the benefit from spending 10x as much for the official cable?

Ahh I see!

Though if my ps3 breaks down, i'm not going to tell them i used a non sony brand hdmi cable. Sony has to know that you used it before they can claim that your warranty is voided

I'm pretty sure a huge hardware company like Sony would know if you used their accessories or not. This isn't Microsoft we are talking about now.

lol are you freakin kiddin me mwhahahahaha omfg, please stop, I can't breath I am laughing so hard. Hate to break it to you, but Sony wouldn't have a clue and even if they thought it was possible, they still have to prove it if they wish NOT to fill the warrenty. Man thanks for the super great laugh. My ribs are hurting you got me going so bad.

:D That was my reaction too.

Can you imagine the look on the customer support team if they heard a call like this?

"Hi! My PS3 is broken. I think it's because I used a non-Sony HDMI cable. Can it be salvaged?"

So basically Sony said the warranty is void if you use one of these cheap HDMI cables that were made in a sweat shop in the Middle East? So if you ever have a problem you lie and say you are using the $60.00 official cable? I didn't know these things. thanks for telling me.

Let me ask you the same thing,If saving money was an issue why even buy a PS3 then?.Buying cheap accessories is for your PS3 is like eating caviar on saltine crackers.

emitsu97

You're confusing cheap with inexpensive.

Exactly!! He's under the impression that cheap means inferior. Only an idiot would pay more for the same QUALITY cables as the cheaper ones. Now if the cables were inferior in quality then he might have a point but he's not saying that. His point is that if you can spend $600 on the PS3 then you MUST pay $60 for HDMI. Why pay only $60? Why not go al out and buy the most expensive cables money can buy since you're obvioulsy rolling in it.

I was planning on paying my jeweler a cool $30 mil to encrust my HDMI cable with diamonds. I mean, if you're going to purchase a PS3, why not go all out?

I'll have to move some funds around in Switzerland to finish the diamond encrusting of my HDTV and the PS3 unit itself.

I fear encrusting my controllers with diamons would lead to finger blisters though. Perhaps I'll just gold plate them.

Actually.. I thought I remember reading 3rd party HDMI cables and some other accessories do void the warranty..

The first time I saw this come up I believe it was related to a set of 3rd party components.  They utilize the multi-out port, a proprietary port for the PS family.  HDMI, USB, and Optical cables all comply to generic industry regularions and standards.  Any cable utilizing a non-proprietary port should be fine.
