Why do you think they didn't do UMD conversion?

I personally think its because people can buy games used and return them. Basically Free games, install on PSP Go, and return game. But maybe lack of technology or such

I guess thats sort of believeable but it kinda seems like "BS". I think Sony figured it would save them time and money to implement the PSP Go Rewards, but what I have to wonder is why us in the US didn't get the program....

def licensing issues...redeem code...trade in, the same license could be used on many psps. when you buy a game you buy a license...if you have the umd and a digital copy you have 2 licenses..

They cou;d have easily found a way around that. Why not trade the UMD for a voucher (send the umd to them), or find some other way.

But you would of thought Sony would of known about these "licensing issues" before even announcing any kind of transfer program, or such... It's just strange... Oh well...

It'd be pretty stupid because if that were the case then you'd be spending $70 more on a smaller console. Also for $$$

They said that they were looking into something but it was never stated that they were in fact going to have a transfer program.

Well, that's my point, why even say "We're in the midst of putting together a goodwill program," Koller told the blog. "We'll be unveiling that soon [since] we actually think there's a significant group that will be upgrading. ... In the past, we've seen a 20 to 25 percent trade-up factor, and I assume that's going to be the case here. We've modeled that. So we're looking at a goodwill program--a short-term goodwill program that would continue for years afterward." This was from marketing director John Koller. You usually look at the legality of licensing even before considering or talking about a transfer program to the public. I know it was never guaranteed, but I think they got people's hopes up by even saying that before looking into its viability. [QUOTE="NightmareCV"][QUOTE="feryl06"]

It's all about moving forward, and that includes getting a second purchase out of consumers on software they've already gotten once or more unfortunately. Having to track all of those transfers or trade-ins would be a nightmare and then there would be a section of the public which would find a loop-hole or other way of exploiting the program... which means Sony loses money. With the PSN, there are no middle-men, no records of past purchase to verify (of said license, referred to in above), no possibility of digital piracy or duplicate claims...

... fresh buys to fresh little on-board memory. No trouble (ostensibly, of course). That, and unbridled profits.
