its because the editor who reviewed it didnt like the game so much. but thats ok. i still want crimson gem saga. i dont base my purchase on just one review. i also read reviews from other sites.
Well first of just so you know there is a demo. I will give you the link later on in the post. The demo is called Astonishia Story 2 Demo. THis is techincally a sequel to Astonishia story but the game has nothing to do with the first one so the name was changed in america. The demo will be in korean until you fight. It's part korean/english demo. The demo will give you a feel for the game and combat. Also I would give the game an 8.5. The game is like Mario and Luigi RPG for the nintendo handhelds. Here is a metacristic page of the game:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/psp/crimsongemsaga
and a link to the demos page:
http://www.pspdemohost.com/list.php?c=pcdown
Also not that you are better off going to the browser on your psp, serching psps demo center on google, go into site, downloads, find demo and download. It is easier because you download the demo directly to yourmemory stick.

WARNING! Minor Rant Ahead! Read At Your Own Peril!
I think one of the big problems is what criteria should be used to rate a game. Each individual reviewer has their own criteria which can give completely different, yet equally valid reviews across many different sites.
As an example: Star Ocean: Second Evolution.
Should you compare this game to its predecessor First Departure, in which case it comes across as a much improved sequel, the same way Second Story improved on the SNES original?
Speaking of the originals, should you rate the game based on how much it has improved since its first (or in the case of some Final Fantasy games, latest) incarnation? Once again, it's been vastly improved with new voice work, bug fixes and overall streamlining the experience.
How about just rating it based on other RPGs in general? Does it stack up well against industry leaders like the Final Fantasys or Dragon Quests? Here personal preference becomes much more important. I would say it stacks up well with the pre-Playstation Final Fantasys and Dragon Quests with the exception of Final Fantasy 6 and Dragon Quest 4, which are still unequalled in my opinion.
Maybe the game should only be compared to other PSP games. Is this game put together as well as, let's say, God of War: Chains of Olympus? God of War doesn't give you nearly as many hours of entertainment as Star Ocean, but at the same time, God of War can provide a much higher quality of entertainment by keeping you moving and thinking as opposed to mindlessly grinding levels.
When you purchase a game and can see (even if you don't necessarily agree with) the points made in the review, the reviewer has done a good job. If the reviewer is outright lying, or using inaccurate information on a regular basis, then I don't think anyone would blame you if you completely disregarded their opinions.
Above all, don't be afraid to disagree or ignore a review. If the game is something you enjoy, then nobody else's opinion matters.
thanks again.. ahehe.. ill check it out.. i have a hunch that gamespot is kinda biased when giving a score and a review.. ^_^ just my opinion.. ^_^ peace..Well first of just so you know there is a demo. ahh, ahehe.. nice.. i mean.. reviews don't matter at all.. it's up to the player if he/she finds the game interesting and appealing.. the review is just like a guide to what the game has to offer.. i think.. ^_^going soley on the topic title

different people, different tastes.. DUDEUlixes_IIINo Gamespot can't review and review all games badly.

Look. The reason Crimson Gem Saga got low scores from Gamespot is because they really tend to look for the NEW in games and JRPGs especially. I personally agree with this stance, and if you look at it that way, CGS brought NOTHING new to the genre. I seriously felt like I have played the game before. All the game really is is a throwback to oldschool RPGs. Nothing more. Nothing less. And THAT is why the game was given an average rating from Gamespot, and from me as well.

right. but what about megaman9 for wii/x360/ps3? its really old school with 8-bit like graphix. but it got a score higher than 5.0 here.Almighty-mints, the problem is that DS JRPGs that bring no new innovation receive higher points. Gamespot obviously plays favorites when it omes to the platforms. And they seriously hate the PSP. It's not even like they didn't like the game and they express that, but they often even make fun of PSP games. The review on Brave Story: A New Traveler is a disaster. The guy who did that should be spat in the face. Besides the fact that the game doesn't even deserve negative reviews, that dude takes every opportunity to make fun of it. I don't remember who did it but I seriously think that it's the most biased and unfair review ever, and I watch AVGN regularly, so it's quite a feat...
