why is everyone hating on UT3?

I've anticipated this game for really long and based on all the negatives i heard about this game i decided to pick up CoD4 instead.

but why exactly does everyone dislike UT3 so much? are the negatives being blown out of proportion?

There are various complaints that I've heard. I love the game, by the way. Some people say it's too fast, laggy or that the offline game is boring. My question is why don't your rent the game and make up your own mind.

I think it's great. The graphics are awesome and the game play is crazy fast. You basically just run around shooting the snot out of people. How can that be bad?

Yeah thats true. I own UT3 and I can't see and problems with it, the servers have no lag (from what I have expirenced), The graphics are amazing, its basically UT2004 with much much more.... what more could you want?

You either love Unreal or Hate it. My personal suggestion is: Don't make your opinions about games from internet forums. Its always better to play a game you'd hate than be talked out of a game you'd enjoy. At least thats how I see it.l8bitz

I agree, people are just complaining about nothing. Of course that what some people are best at. The game is not laggy at all, i have experienced 0 lag on and offline. Its different, thats why people dont like it. I dont see how people think the single player is boring, if UT3 is boring so is every other shooter. I personally have a blast with offline, that is until my team starts sucking. :evil:

Not sure everyone dislikes UT3 so much as everyone is just so impressed with COD4. Given a choice between the two, I take COD4 all day everyday. Better graphics, better gameplay, better time over-all imo. That doesn't mean I'm hating on UT3. I've had UT3 for 2 weeks now and I have yet to open it. I'm waiting on some usb extender cables so I can use Keyboard and Mouse to pwn n00bs.xooco

Get a wireless set, thats what I did :). UT3 with keyboard & mouse on a 42" tv cant be beat, COD4 is boring in comparison.

Good point, look at how many people come on here just to hate on Halo.

I enjoy the game a lot more than CoD4, but I know a lot of people don't. UT3 is more skill based, due to the lack of auto-aim and required reaction time since it is far more fast-paced. Also, I think the graphics are almost as good, but completely different styles. Sure, CoD is more realistic, but I also think R&C looks better than CoD4 because I enjoy the style more(my opinion, no reason to debate).

If you get a mouse and keyboard, the game is even more fun. I play with and without, and M/K allows for faster gameplay and more precision. I always find it funny when people say a controller is more skill based, when, in reality, a controller is only more difficult because you can only turn so fast and have less precision over how much you turn. I don't consider it skill as much as the fact that FPS will always be more suited to M/K and 3rd person view will be better suited to controllers. I always tell people that if they think a controller requires more skill to play against someone good on a M/K with a M/K and quit whining. That's why UT3 gives the option...o.k., off topic.

Anyway, a lot of the hate for UT3 is because so many people play CoD4 now, they are sort of attached to it and try and defend it against any other game, even though most of them have most likely never even played UT3. I'm not saying everyone that likes CoD4 better hasn't played UT3, I'm just saying a lot of them haven't, and it's the same with ANY popular game against another game in the same genre.

Hah, nice. I would have never thought about hooking up a Wireless M+K to my PS3. :)

Don't agree - as people are stating above it is a love / hate game. Very different from some other shooters. I rented the game knowing there would be love / hate. Fully ready to buy it - I HATED it. Yeah graphics were nice, but I didn't like how you couldn't pull up maps, didn't like immediate respawn, lack of tactic in dtm and a few other things and I returned it and ended up not buying it. I should probably have played some other modes more, but other stuff came up and wasn't that interested in the game I can totally see why some people love it, but it just wasn't for me - so back playing RFOM waiting for the next game to get :)

There are mics just bad implementation - I hated how it was done - found out through here how to do it better. The point though should be is that needed? Do you have to go online today and reasearch your game to get full enjoyment..

The only problem I have with UT3 is that there is no clan support and that is the worst thing about this game. They should implent clan support for online.GiveX

No game has clan support nowadays. Not since SoCom. Being able to put a tag on your name isn't clan support.

The chat system is going to be patched soon, and I agree, this is one problem with the game.

The servers are perfectly fine for me. No lag at all.

The whole point of single player is to get you used to the game, and it does that very well. CoD4's single player is great, but lasts at most 4-5 hours on the hardest mode, and 2 hours of that is the 2nd "mission" with the president's death ( ;) j/k, I just hated going through that more than once when beating on different difficulties). UT has always been about online play.

About being real life, that's just an opinion and you can definately have that. However, I don't think CoD is all that realistic either, otherwise every server would only allow one death, and then you would be out for the match. Just joking, but the only thing more realistic about CoD is the graphics (which includes surroundings/weapons/etc.) because in terms of physics of the weapons and such, I'm not sure how an auto-aim rifle is more realistic than a target-locking rocket launcher.

UT game are not "mindless" killing.... shows that some of you have never actually played a UT game for any length of time.

...then again if you're playing against new UT players it IS "mindless" because everyone is just running around randomly shooting people they see.

Great points but im not complaining,,, even though UT3 has some bumps it still does not stop it from being one of the best muliplayer games,,,,,especially for old school players and pc game lovers. Its pace is unreal

I'm what they call an Inhancement smoker in the industry, and this game is ****ing awesome when your stoned. Thats why those people don't like this game.

I hated UT3, it just seemed to be run around and shoot, no skill needed. IMO.

I'm what they call an Inhancement smoker in the industry, and this game is ****ing awesome when your stoned. Thats why those people don't like this game.

OK so didn't play socom - what did they do that Resistance hasn't done? Just wondering what else is missing. They have a page for clan members you can gb and go into games as a clan etc - just want to know what else there was in socom
