[QUOTE="Shadowhawk2606"]A POS waiting to happen, can you be even more negative. Why so much hostility towards gorilla, did they harm you in some way.Azulrosa
yeah, they harmed my pocketbook. I bought killzone 1. It was a piece of trash. Nothing at all compared to the screens and hype that preceded it. I won't hold my breath.
That's your opinion, there are obviously people out there that enjoyed the first game. I just think spewing S bombs at a freakin video game, like it physically harmed you in some way is just sad. It's a video game, it's nothing to get so serious about. I understand your cautioness with Killzone 2, but can you atleast give gorilla the benefit of the doubt. They do afterall seem to have the entire Sony games division pretty much backing them this time around. Plus believe it or not good game developers are actually more than capbable of learning from there pastmistakes.

no. there are many studios (such as insomniac) that have sony's backing. It doesn't mean that they all churn out wonderful games. I'm not saying it will be trash. I'm just expecting that it will be. They don't exactly have the track record that the other big sony studios do. If it is a masterpiece I will gladly buy it. Until then I think my investment money is better spent on a boat dealership in death valley.

Keep an eye out for that orange diamond sony symbol on the game cases. it means its poisoned.

Ok, it aint bad, but to me its nothing new as I used to be hooked on battlefield 2 mc and its very similar to me. and the ranks are confusing. and every muthafucin time i open the ps store, or look at the info box, i see WARHAWK OMEGA DAWN THE BEST THING EVER IN PS3 HISTORY BUY NOW TONS OF FUN. thats all i see. but ill give it to you, out of lair and killzone, and justabout every other sony game, it is good.
Does a game have to do something new to be great? Look at Uncharted. IT';s @#$#@ing amazing. IT does nothing newUncharted is new! are you kidding me....the cover feature, the odd jungle and francis drake storyline, the aiming feature, the graphics(of course), the epic puzzles, the amazing fighting **** (brutal combos, etc) with the brutal combos and all that...also the next gen feature in many games of health regeneration instead of having to search for first-aid kits or floating crosses. What game is like that?
yea that justs sums it up to uncharted lol
Mixed with an Indiana Jones movie too, of course.
Putting false hope in vaporware is anyone's perogative. I won't be sharing the dream.Azulrosa
Ok, so if KZ2 makes a killing and is a very good game, will you get it? Or will still have such a negative attitude towards it while millions of people are enjoying something you aren't a part of? How can you not "share a dream" if you won't be more open towards it?
I'm not putting false hope into anything, in fact, KZ2 isn't even a game I'm looking forward to in 08, but I still think it will be successful game. Just cuz the first one sucked doesn't mean the second one will. Hell, thats the opposite with the Halo franchise, first one was awesome then it went downhill after 2 and 3. Just my thoughts on the matter. But hey I'm not one to judge you, right? :P
Killzone 1 was decent Killzone liberations was pretty good and with the man power and money behind them who can't get excitiedRagashahs
So wait, you're saying that all a company needs is a ton of money and lots of people? So, what happened with Windows, the Pontiac Solstice and War of the Worlds?

What is this gorillas third or fourth game, how can yoube so harsh on a studio that hasn't made many games. To many people are spoiled with the handful of studios that are fortunate enough to have a big hit title right out of the gate. Having a big hit right out of the gate is something that very rarely happens. Most devs have to get there feet wet first. Which usually means having there first few titles not be all that good. If the studio was around for say 10 years or so then yeah I might share your opinion, but they haven't. It's funny with you pretty much expecting Killzone 2 to be a bad game. What's the benifit of being so pessimistic.

[QUOTE="SOedipus"]Because people still haven't learnt anything from Killzone (PS2) and Lair... Honestly, it's not like it could be any worse than the first one.

Heh. More or less what I was thinking. I remember a similar deal with Fable. It was a good game, but nowhere near as great as it was hyped to be. But, then there were a lot of comments afterward like "Fable 2, on the other hand is going to be awesome!". No lesson learned after Fable and Black and White about taking whatever Peter Molyneux says with a gigantic grain of salt?
The first Killzone was all right, but nowhere near the Halo killer it was hyped to be. I'm hoping the second will be an improvement, but I take none of this "Killzone 2 will be teh awesome" seriously.
Which is why Fable 2 isn't being hyped as much, before I got the internet, I borrowed Fable from my friend, it was an awesome game, however, once I found all the promises that were made on how it was going to be (300+ hours story driven gameplay etc), it was easy to see how people could confuse dissapointment with a bad game.
It's being hyped because it's been under development for 4 years, it's being worked on by a staff of hundreds of programmers and designers under the supervision of sony themselves (who are responsible for masterpieces such as God of War), the budget for KillZone 2 is huge due to the deep pockets of sony, and the game is taking full advantage of the cell engine, as it is exclusively for the PS3, so it's not being developed with 2 styles of hardware in mind, it's being made to fit with the PS3, and the PS3 only, and again, this has been in development for four freakin years.
Killzone 1 had a small budget, small, very small team of developers, and was designed for an inferior (compared to the PS3 this gen) console.
Also, sony hyped this game themselves, claiming this was sony's retaliation to the halo franchise.
there is a huge amount being expected from this game, and now you know why. okay? good; spread the word.

I tasted a bit of Prince of Persia while i was playing as well...
Hype is a 2 sided weapon. it either boost games ( like Halo3) or simply finishes them ( like Lair )
The Hype will simply kill KZ2:x
If I'm not mistaken the whole Halo Killer term wasn't even something that someone from Sony even said in regards to Killzone 1, or the upcoming Killzone 2. It was something that either certain gamers, or game journalists said. It amazes me how quick some people are to try to put the PS3 in a bad light.

Yep. Time + money + backing != great game.
It's not that I want Killzone 2 to be bad. Shooter are my favorite genre, and I want more great games available for the PS3. I'm not skeptical because of their lack of smashes. Plenty of studios have made excellent games that don't sell well (see Looking Glass for a perfect example). But the two FPSs from GG haven't been too great.
I hate it when people compare Gears with Uncharted.. :lMaxned
Yeah, you can take cover and only have an aimer if you go into a over-the-shoulder view... but theres less simulatirties between that and two fps's. The fighting in Uncharted and Gears is really quite different, especially since you don't have a chainsaw gun in Uncharted =P
Its Killzone...a sexy looking shooter that sony needs to drive sales of the PS3. Halo 3 got ridiculous sales for the 360 even despite microsofts many defective units so Sony really needs this to panout cause I don't think MGS 4 will drive sales like Halo 3 did for the 360.swish4three
Lol! Please don't ever call a game "sexy" xD

I don't understand the hype for this game. Ok, the graphics are superb, but what else does this game have to offer? There's not exactly a story based on the first Killzone, the gameplay is pretty decent.... So is the only reason why people want this game because of graphics? wow....
I dunno, just saying
Maxned
Halo was hyped for what??? Certainly not the graphics, certainly not the repedetive gameplay with few new features, maybe the story, but I doubt that, hmmm well then why is anything hyped, no one cares man
ohh yea I forgot Halo was hyped for its name and thats sad

Well, I am going to get it because i enjoyed the first game. my problems with the first game was the controllers but it really didnt bother me that much. I thought it had a good setting and story too.
Killzone 2 seems like its going to be a great visual experience and it has great potential if the developers have learned from their previous mistakes and other nr.1 fps games that exists today.
[QUOTE="Thornorway"]Its hyped so much cause Sony desperately need a console crusher that will steal market shares from Nintendo and Microsoft. Sony failed with Lair, Heavenly Sword did not do it as good as Sony hope so they desperately need Killzone to be good. I hope they make it with good gameplay cause without it first class graphic dont count squat. I will check it out when it arrives and if it justifies the hype then i will buy it and if not well i wont waste a dime on it.

WHOA buddy what slimy hole did you crawl out of? You obviously support the 360, and not thegrowth of the ps3.
first of all, these games that we are talking about does NOT in any way, shape, or form decline the performace and entertainment that is the 360 crushing ps3
THe ps3 IS crushing the xbox 360 in my opinion, it has many of the 360 games, except halo, of course, which can easily be replaced with UT3 or Resistence fall of man.
Games like Uncharted show the ps3's computing power and that it is currently the most powerful.
it even smashes microsoft with free online play. and sooo many better games will come out next year.
so, right now the 360 is throwing out every single game and feature the company can right now, which is a clear sign that they are showing signs of dying off, like the regular xbox did. and the ps3? its just chillin, waitin for its exclusives, updates, and online features to gradually increase buy next year, and top off the oncoming death of the 360. whatever you say can not stop it. so go hang out on the 360 forums while you can, buddy.
Whoa there buddy, what slimy hole did YOU just climb out of? Seriously man, just so you know, even if PS3 has a lot of the games 360 has, that still does not make it crush the 360. Also, its free online play that the PS3 has is a total joke in my opinion. Xbox Live kicks its butt in terms of population, amount of games it supports, and its features like friends lists, tons of DLC, and tons of downloadable games. Second, RFOM and UT3 do not take Halo's place, both games are nothing compared to Halo just so you know, multiplayer wise and single player wise. Yes many games are coming out next year for PS3, but who says all will be triple A? We'll all just wait and see how the games turn out. And no MS is not throwing stuff out there in desperation, in fact, next year 360's got a good line up too, Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden II, Banjo III, SC Conviction (which could put up a fight against MGS4, never know) GeOW 2, Halo Wars, Too Human, lots of games. And yes PS3 is chillin, waitin for its exclusives, but its not doing so well because of it. Stop with your radical fanboyism, its really annoying.
And trust me, I'm no troll, I support all three consoles, but seriously don't blindly predict a year that hasn't even come yet, wait and watch how the future of the console war will be. I'm stickin up to any consoles you bash because I like em all, though PS3 lately hasn't been that appealing to me, so just cool it.
Rofl, what's up with you ps3 fanboys and halo 3? just because it was an amazing seller doesnt mean you have to be threatened by it. At least Halo 3 has an amazing online experience and hours upon hours of replayability. If that game was on ps3, you fanboys would brag about it to wii and 360 owners, JUST BECAUSE IT'S ONLY ON PS3. But the fact that's it on the 360 only, you have to PMS about it.
