Why is PS3 selling so poorly?

dude - im a gamer at heart and i have to call total BS on what you just said.
i've bought all 3 current gen consoles and to be honest the excitement of launch + games was best with Wii, followed by 360, and PS3.
360 did have a brief lull when we were waiting for Oblivion and Dead Rising, but christ -- the ps3 is dead in the water games wise, nothing is fun -- almost everything is multi-plat, and it costs more.
Dude , what is the rush for a ps3 when all of these games have just released around the time of the ps3 release . Okami , FFXII , Guitar Hero II , Socom , Rogue Galaxy , Burnout Dominater , God of War II , ect.Believe me , if the ps2 didn't have all of those games , ps3 sales would be much higher than they are now.
Your nothing is fun for the ps3 argument sucks too. Resistance and Motorstom are fun but the ps2s amazing quality is just overshadowing them a bit. People are well aware of tthose games and will be picking them up when they finally get a ps3 after the ps2.Â
I couldnt' agree with you more -- but Motorstorm and Resistance aren't my cup of tea. I'm a PC shooter fan and Resistance is just soooo annoying. sold it 3 days after I bought it... and Motorstorm is like a kids racing game, it's fun when I have some friends over and we're drinking, but that's about it.
I'm just annoyed to hell that Sony didn't have the foresight to have some decent games in development for the launch -- its looking like we have to wait another year just to see a good AAA game on the PS3.. and that blows.Â

wait until the official figures are released -- all online sales charts are complete BS and hardly any are adjusted to actual domestic product releases... and many, including VGcharts use different methodology for different consoles.

did you read it? demand was high for 360s through that period, as the article acknowledges. the only point that might help someone trying to argue for Sony was the main point made with rose colored glasses on.
fact is Sony has supply, there isn't serious demand. 360 had no supply, and large demand (not wii demand, but people were still lining up for shipments 3 months after it released in my city - something you'd never see for the PS3).
if anything that article condemns Sony. it's a what-if scenario. If MS and Sony had the same supply through that period then you could argue for Sony, but the fact is they were both in very different situations, and MS looks far more favorable.

As for the PS3's "slow" sales probably have to do with, and it hurts me to say it because it really doesn't apply to me, is price and a fairly small but definitely growing selection of games (I don't have that problem because I think there are already enough games out there, and if you're one of those people waiting for specific game, something is wrong with that picture, because it's not worth to send even $200 for 1 game, makes sense? so I get a felling those are just hidden truth excuses.

Any possible ground the PS3 is supposedly gaining on the x360 is being offset by the sales of the x360 NOW.
The other problem with the argument is that Feb07 NPD numbers showed the PS3 being outsold by a whopping 101k units. The x360 sold 160k units in Feb06. Technically, the PS3 still has a "lead" of 40k at this point, but if March07 turns out like Feb07, then the PS3's "lead" will no longer exist.
What PS3 games came out in February? Could that be an indicator of why the system sold so poorly in February? I'm not denying that Sony's software support is coming slowly. But it REALLY picked up in March. PS360 FTW, why are we fighting guys? imo if you have one or the other then you're all set this genSOedipusNo, you're wrong. You're all set with either console for about the next 1.5 to 2 years. After that, more and more games will be coming out that harness the awesome power of the PS3. That means that ALL (as in every single one) of the best games will be PS3 exclusives. That is unless Microsfot makes you fork over more money for another console 3 years after the 360 launch. I can't wait to see how well that goes over.
