Enjoy your time off from the boards buddy. You actually sound sincere but this post is bound to be locked by the end of the day. There have been 3,459 posts stating the same blah blah blah. The PS3 is fine...in fact its GREAT! Stop listening to heresay and enjoy your new system.
Next time before you post do yourself a favor and check out the boards
I blame the ps2. See, the ps2 still has many games that have just come out for it or are coming out for it in the near future. I know many ps2 fans (some i'd even call Sony fanboys) who can't see buying a ps3 for Resistance when FFXII and Rogue Galaxy just came out for the ps2 and GoW2 and Manhunt 2 are still on the way. They all plan on getting a ps3 before the end of the year, though.
Had Sony abandoned the ps2 like Nintendo and M$ did the GCN and the Xbox, ps2 owners would've had to get a new console to keep getting new games. However, they don't have to. This is one reason i love Sony. They provide their customers with consoles with longevitiy. They support their consoles for ten years, literally.
Also, the ps3 isn't really doing bad at all. People keep comparing it to the Wii, but the Wii's launch period has been phenominal, compared to the average console launch, so of course anythign else is going to pale in comparison. Honestly, the Wii is selling so well because Zelda is a launch title, in addition to the system being so innovative. I hadn't planned on getting one until about a year after launch, but when they made Twilight Princess a launch title (a game i had pre-ordered since May '05) i knew i had to get one at launch (even though it was still coming out for GC). Once my roomate played mine, he just had to get one as well, and he camped out the day after Thanksgiving and got one with Zelda. I think this is why the Wii is doing surprisingly well, so you can't really compare it to a $600 console without any system-sellers, like so many people seem keen on doing.
