Why is Uncharted so expensive?

Its been out for nearly 2 years but its still $50-$60 no matter where i go :\

Because it is a fantastic game that is still apparently selling very well. It is a Greatest Hit in most other countries though. I am sure you will see a price drop very soon as U2:Among Thieves drops in October. I would wait until then, but IMO it is an absolute must play. It is a gorgeous cinematic experience with great gameplay to back up the visuals/story.

The game is just awesome, well worth the launch price IMO. A game holding it's value is really rare and should speak volumes about the quality.

i have no idea i was gonna get from GS the other day and it was still 45$ used and from what i hear its not very long and no multiplayer so yea big rip off

Because Uncharted worth it.

But it would be great if they made Uncharted+Uncharted 2 bundle for 90 $.

if the game is good (uncharted is so awesome) then they can continue to sell it at that price range but if it was a bad game it would probably go down in the price range.

GTA4 is now40$ MGS4 is now 30$

uncharted should be no more then 30$

same with heavenly sword thats still 50$ at GS

It is expensive for the following reasons:

1.) Great game

2.) Still selling well

3.) Naughty Dog patched in trophies

4.) PS3 exclusive

5.) Sequel on the way, most likely when Uncharted 2 hits, the first game will drop in price.

Maybe ND knows that if they lower the price more kids will spam up the Uncharted hate train and infect U2's online. A similar scenario to what will happen when the PS3's price drops, perhaps?

They want to capitalise on the Uncharted 2 hype and they probably don't want to knock $30 off their Uncharted bundles just yet either.

It's strange for it to be so expensive in the US and not so much everywhere else. In the UK it's £12-£15 (about $25?)from most places.

I'd still pay full price for it 2 years later though, it really is THAT good :P

Cause retailers are hoping to cash in because a lot of gamers will want to play UT b4 UT 2. Take amazon Canada for instance. BEFORE MARCH 09: 49.99 AFTER UT 2 ANNONCEMENT: 69.99 (and still like that).

It doesn't matter how well it's selling. Apparently Microsoft is "M$" because they're money hungry yet Gears of War 2 is $40 and it hasn't even been out for a year. It has been reviewed better and offers more content, yet Sony still refuses to drop the price? It's a great game no doubt, but it wasn't worth $60 back then and it definitely isn't now. (It was my second favorite game of 2007 by the way, behind Mass Effect, so no, I'm not a fanboy/hater)

I don't care if its worth it or not, i recently got a PS3 and am expecting a lot of the older games im interested in to be sold at a lower price, theres no reason i should have to waste a full $50 on such an old game.

awesome logic, i never thought of it that way, if they drop uncharted price. the bundle loses its value. instead of having an extra 80gb and a 60 dollars game it will have an extra 80gb with a 30 dollars game. this dude is smart!!!

I wondered this as well, especially since games like MGS4 have gone down to $30 and were released significantly later. Oh well -- based on the short game length and lack of multiplayer, it seems like a game made for rental anyways. Just lay down the $10, beat it once, and then get ready for Uncharted 2.

I don't understand it either, which is why I bought it online. I ended up getting the UK version, the Platinum edition one. I wasn't expecting that (I'm in Canada), but it didn't matter since the PS3 is region-free. :D

Some people here have said that Uncharted sold well, so shouldn't it be a Greatest Hit by now?

I would say Uncharted would be worth that price point if I hadn't already played through multiple times when I rented but since I did I would wait until Uncharted 2 comes out to buy U1. That's pretty much my idea, I'll buy U2 day one and a month or so down the road get U1 for pretty cheap. I think it should be lowered regardless how good it is, I recently bought BioShock(PS3) for $30 new and it was one of the greatest games I've ever played and by far beats Uncharted.

The other mind-boggling thing is, don't the stores want to make some space for other games? Put those games up on clearance or something.
