[QUOTE="andrewwg94"][QUOTE="Ps2stony"]Excuse the off-topicism, but does this mean that 1080p is the best?Ps2stony1080p is king of the best, (and king of the price too  ) Sooo, would I be able to get a 1080p TV for under $1000? If so what range of sizes would those be? that's allmost impossible, no less than 2 thousand $. sizes are usually from 40" to 70" i would go with 50"
Actually, the cheapest tvs are 1080i since all CRTs do that resolution.BroweChisoxUmmm... "all" CRTs do 480i.
i thought 1080i was betterandrewwg94720p was introduced because it's better than 1080i. Back in the early 90's it was decided that 1080p should be the resolution of HD but because of "bad" TV tubes TV makers could only put out 1080i TVs and to make up for that 720p. This is also why 1080p is refered to TRUE HD. At the same time the bandwidth needed to call a internet connection "broadband" was decided so it could recieve 1080p video.
Please........please..........please will sombody answer this?
Are pc monitors(i.e. 24" dell/gateway 1080p lcd's) good for playing games and wathcing blu-ray in 1080p?Â
on something as small as 24" I don't think you'll notice much of a difference between 720p/1080i or 1080p. 1080p is more noticeable on a larger screen 50" and up!lokestar
What if I'm sitting 3-5 feet away from it?
Let's say I were to watch a blu-ray movie on it will it still be displayed in 1080p, or will it downgrade to 480p due to the lack of screen size? Noob question

1080p resolution is the best, better than 720p or 1080p. You can watch and play games from a PC monitor, but it won't as satisfying as playing on the big screen.
i thought 1080i was betterandrewwg941080i was created to have a cheaper HD in slow moving smooth soft environments 10801 looks better but when there are a lot of things going on 720p looks better
if it supports the resoulution you want, then yesPlease........please..........please will sombody answer this?

.... if your t.v. supports only 720p and 1080i then.....it most likely 1280*720,therefore if you choose 1080i on your 360/ps3 then your actually getting 1080i (1980*1080) downscalled to fit your 1280*720 (720p)......
