I have been really excited about this title cause I have been looking for a good tactical shooter. So you could imagine that I was pretty disapointed to hear about all the problems it has.

But what I find more amazing is the number of people defending this title. The game is obviously broken and deserves its low scores, but a lot of people still refuse to accept it.

I mean C'mon, the box claims it has features that it doesn't. How would you feel if you bought a car when the price list states it is a new car and has standard features, like an AC, only to find out after your purchase that it doesnt. And that this so called "new" car has a host of problems. Would you really be ok if the dealer said that they'll eventually add the AC for you and fix the other problems, when they get a chance? People can sue for that kind of misleading advertisement and the biggest surprise is that the socom developers havent been sued yet.

I think you guys are being way to soft on these guys.

I agree that he missing features are a let-down. Other than that, old school Socom players like myself still love playing this game. people are just way too much into reviews and what-not instead of playing the game. People who haven't played Socom before will have a hard time getting into it, because they aren't good and it takes awhile, also, because they read these reviews and go into it LOOKING for the bad problems. The game is still fun to play and getting better. I'm not defending the developers though, you're right on that point.

Yea, IGN even held off their review until post-patch, and it still got a 4.5

This bothers me more because of what happened with Fallout 3. Everybody was all pissed at Bethesda for having a few bugs/glitches, and here's a Sony title that's nearly unplayable. Yet it gets off the hook?

It doesn't arrive in the UK for another 4 weeks, I hope it's completely fixed by then. And it better have Trophies at launch.

Im not up in arms about the scores, sure it deserves it with the problems its been having but i really enjoy the game. Im one of the lucky ones who has had next to no problems at all, mostly just on launch day. the lag on my end is barely noticable and i might freeze up every now and then when i try a 32 player match.

Coming from a tactical/teambased online shooter perspective, this is the best out there IMHO. Ive tried Rainbow Six 1-2 and Graw 1-2 and much prefer SOCOM. If your a fan of SOCOM on the ps2 you will most likely like this game and get addicted to it quick.

If it was Either Socom 1 2 or 3 that did it for you.

Those games were so much fun for many people that even if zipper release a blank Blu Ray as their next installment, Socom fans will still defend it

People like to believe they are always right, no matter how much a waste of hype was to wait for this game, and a waste of money was to buy it...

To me the scores are way to low.Yes im admitting there are issues but mostly technical issues which are supposedly being fixed.People are just hating because they thought it was a noob game like CoD4 or Halo where you just run into a place and expet to not die.Socom deserves a 8 in my book.Gameplay is awesome its just those minor tech issues.

You are correct sir!!! :)

I'm loving it aswell, the features need to be put in place and the tech issues need to be fully taken care of. But the gameplay is awesome, the community is awesome. I mean most true socom fans could careless about a feature like quick match lol, so some things to us are easily overlooked when for the most part just aren't needed. Yes they will be nice when released but as of now its a non factor when the gameplay is right on.

Only feature I want put in is the ladder system for the clan wars.

Right now I would rate the game a 8 even with the issues that do creep up every once in a while.

Why so much socom love? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that people enjoy the game? God forbid someone enjoy a game that you don't right?

I bought it the first day it was released and lgoged countless hours while the servers were all screwed up, yet I still had a blast. Haven't picked it up lately because of all the other games I just recently picked up (far cry 2, fallout3).

Why was there so much love for Resistance? The single player was OK...nothing special or innovative, just your standard linear hold my hand type shooter. The online? That was OK but no where near as good as some of the other multiplayer games out.

See how I can do that with other games too?

I bought it and I wouldn't give it a score anything higher than a 6.5. I loved the previous Socom's but this one just feels broken. It doesn't have the same feel as the previous ones.

I don't care about scores at all. I've played many crappy games rated at 9. The servers are improving but I'll agree that the launch was a failure. That doesn't mean the game is.Great launches are often followed up by horrible games.

I love Socom because of a few simple things it does well.

It brings back solid tactical play. It has a push to talk feature. It has built in clan support. It has a round system that adds depth to games. It's a third-person shooter, which I prefer greatly. It has server rooms where you can pick which game you want to go in or make a room yourself. It has character customization, a simple ranking system and what will be a great community/friends infrastructure.

All that is enough for me and far outweighs what the game lacks in graphics. I'm about to go play right now.
